People are still acting like we have a defence of Holgate, Godfrey and Keane with a never fit Mina and someone like Dyche or Lampard as manager.

We near enough just changed the manager half way through last season, and we found ourselves in and around Europe qualifying form whilst beating premier league stalwarts like Newcastle, Forest and Fulham on the road.

Nobody knows what the future holds, which is one of the reasons why bookies make a fortune, but if you think qualifiying for Europe next season is so far fetched that it should be dismissed then you haven’t being paying attention to the fluctuations in league tables since… well… forever actually!
A lot of people are just worn out from failure, but a smaller portion are complicit in the dire low standards that have been considered acceptable here for decades. For that group, mediocrity is more than enough. It's all many of them have ever known.

The board needs to buy some new players now, but when they do we should be looking to attack the European places as a genuine aim. Otherwise, what's the point?

From the state we’ve been in the last few years, 10th would represent progress and steadying of the ship in readiness to take the next step and compete for Europe.

Top 10, Moyes has shown that the last few years have been down to poor managers, no coaching and negative tactics.
I fully expect a drop off from the likes of Forest and Brentford this season.

I still expect a lot of moaning on here though even if we are around top 10. The anti Moyes brigade are just waiting.

It would be fantastic for us fans to be going into the new season with hope and optimism 😀 however with the current state of play it is same old Everton at work, watching the likes of McNeil and Garner take corners and on set pieces.

I would love them to get players in before the Roma game and integrate them with the squad so we look like a team on the up.

over to you Moyes

Changed my vote after the shambles of the transfer window thus far….

Now say relegation battle.
Even if we ended up buying no-one else, we’d have virtually the same squad who had the 6th/7th best record in the League after Moyes came in. We will end up buying more players but we shouldn’t be near relegation either way unless we have injury problems.

We have a squad currently capable of what we achieved last season - around that 16th - 12th position in the league.

If we get in the right signings, which we do appear to be targeting despite not acting on it thus far, I think between 12th and 8th is a reasonable expectation. Competition for the European spots is a bit too far for us to realistically expect currently as they already have established squads and are adding real top quality to it, but the teams from 8th downwards don't have too much between them on a 'good' day.

Keep hearing this.... It is not the same squad. We are 'missing' Doucoure, DCL, Lindstrom, Young, Harrison... 5 players who whether good enough or not have a wealth of experience playing at this kind of level.

Let's look the the subs bench for Blackburn game (when we had most players back bar Pickford and Tarks)..... Tyrer, Keane, Chermiti, Metcalfe, Armstrong, Clarke, Onyango, Heath Thomas.

When a team is very much more than the starting 11 these days then damn we are going to struggle. So at this stage without bringing anyone of note in except for a young unproven striker, then yes the target is to survive a relegation battle!

People really think that our starting 11 is going to play 100% of every game and even if this were ever possible, to be successful in the league really need to give their head a wobble.
