2024/25 Youssef Chermiti

A reminder

…I recall saying at the time, Chermiti was a totally ‘out of the blue’ signing that i could truly judge Thelwell on. I also said, why would Sporting sell him to us and then buy Gyrokeres, looking very good business now.

As an Evertonian, I genuinely still want this lad to be the real deal but I continue to have major doubts.

He just looked sluggish in the 2nd preseason game. Some players for whatever reason just don't wake up every day and just look like their motor skills haven't developed past toddler level. It does leave me with a concern about him. I don't think he is bad when he is awake. He does some good things. There are days where he just doesn't get out of bed mentally. I will never understand why some players are so Jekyl and Hyde

Neither he nor Beto were "half our budget".

Really? Because he showed 2 seasons ago when fit that he can.

He certainly showed endeavour and technique 2 seasons ago. He also showed the same 12months ago in preseason.

Other than his injury theres nothing to show on pitch that he's failed. Nothing.
I applaud you for sticking up for him Zat, and i do appreciate that he has had terrible luck with injuries in his time here, but whenever he has played, whilst obviously having technique he still has shown nothing to convince me that he will force his way into becoming a success in the prem. not all good technical players do, as you know well. Of course I hope he does and would be delighted to be proved wrong (I often am) but just from what I have seen, he has a Davey Klassen vibe about him, just doesn't look like the prem will be a happy hunting ground for him.

Funny you mention Klaasen as i was one of a few who said he'd flop as per your own point about him being unsuited.

Chermiti though, i think he showed enough for me in his cameos that technique, desire and hold up play seemed decent & his movement especially was fluid.

Have to say since the injury in preseason, none of us can judge, which is my point really.

I cant say either way as its been so long at a crucial development time.

Needs a loan where he will play every week and score goals.

….the doubt being he’ll struggle to play and score goals every week. If he goes on loan he’ll have to earn game time.

I know you think he could be the most technically gifted striker this club has ever had so there should be plenty of demand for him.

Doesn't look like Moyes fancies him at all. Put three right backs on the bench and left him out of the squad one match at the back end of the season and said it was "a selection decision." And you'd expect Moyes to give Beto and Barry most of the minutes once the season starts. A shame coz he looks to have the attributes to be given a chance to show he can play up front in the Premier League but I can't see Moyes giving him a run of games.
