Concerned

We will obviously be signing some players.

In an ideal world we get them in earlier bit it rarely works that way.

We are very short on numbers so players will be signed. Eventually...
We'll definitely sign players, we have to, we don't have enough players for a functional match day squad.

My fear is that the players we have targeted don't want to come here and are waiting for better offers. In that scenario one of two things happen: 1. We end up with a player that we wanted but who is disappointed to be here and will always have one eye on the exit; or 2. We don't get the player that we want and we have limited time to progress down our list (which may have already become depleted by our second and third choices joining other clubs whilst we wait on our first choice) and end up with the Lindstroms and Harrisons of the world and we may have basically jibbed off our first few fixtures, putting us, once again, on the back foot for the season.

I know everyone bangs on about Brighton but what they do really well is identify players that don't have huge acclaim and sign them up quietly and quickly without any real competition. Contrast that with us being linked with Douglas Luiz or James McAtee, for example. Players with relatively high profiles, multiple suitors and expectations of playing European football. I was encouraged by the Barry signing, not because I know much about the player, but because the profile (young player, good record in competitive leagues, not too much competition for the signing, early interest) seemed more appropriate for a club in our position. Everything since has seemed very "old Everton".

People need to stop being miserable for miserable's sake. Moyes' cautious approach has always been the right one when it comes to transfers, how many bad signings has he ever made, especially in the last 10 years?

We're not going to fix every position in one window, but I am confident the players who we do get will prove to be good ones. If it means no more absolute crabs like Maupay, Sandro, Vlasic, Tosun, Delph, Harrison (the list is endless) then I'm happy to wait a few weeks.
Didn’t Moyes buy Vlasic at West Ham for £20m+

generally concur but how much of the players we are 'linked with' are actually being targetted by the club versus blag Journo crap stories?

Yeah said practically the same thing the other day, maybe we should be doing what Brighton are doing, getting the young up and coming players in the past hungry type, who are glad to be here...for now. Someone like Onana, not everyone's cup of tea, but someone highly thought of who was were able to secure and later make a good profit on.

Of course that's true. Internet "journalists" need clicks and agents need some buzz around their players so clearly not everyone we've been linked with is a genuine link. On the other hand everyone we've ever signed (except maybe Kevin Mirallas - shout out to @DAVIDMOYES - gone but never forgotten) has been linked in the press first, so some of these links are real.

I get your concerns buddy. Although I think there's time yet.
You only have to look across the park and see how it should be done, as much as I can't stand them they are top notch at buying and selling.
To be fair to TFG they have only just walked in the door but they have owned Roma since 2020, I just imagined we would have more in by now.
My one big hope was that we would do business early and have the future squad for pre season. That ain't happening and that is disappointing, for me anyway.
