What a disgraceful piece of refereeing there at the end when she told the celebrating players to wait for the VAR confirmation of the save. Talk about draining the game of any joy whatsoever.

What's the alternative? Letting them celebrate for longer? I hate VAR as much as most, but honestly thought she got it confirmed and handled quite fast. In the Premier League, we'd have had four minutes of cameras cutting between the VAR room and nervous players and fans.

Possibly the best save I’ve ever seen! Still, disappointed France didn’t get through. Thought the last kick of the game was going in

Yes.

Why is VAR involved at all? Linesman or ref thinks all is good, that’s that. It’s a penalty. Keepers always move.

VAR should only be involved if the ref or lineswoman thinks the keeper moved egregiously off the line and calls it. If they didn’t, no need for VAR.

Time for common sense in a game going mad.
