Z cars theme

I don't know how long this version was used for when the teams came out (I was a bit too young to go to the game back then) but here's a video of an FA cup tie against Walsall in 1972 with this version playing in the background.

Somebody has done this version of it as well, might have to put my tin hat on here but I actually like this!

The cup game could be the TV doing the music?

I like the punk version.

Possibly as it does sound a bit too clear for something that would be in the background? Though you can hear somebody speaking over the loudspeakers when the music ended. I'm sure there'll be a few Blues on here who'll remember if that version of it was regularly played when the teams came out in that era? Glad I'm not the only one who likes the "punk" version!

I've been going since 1963 and probably because it's in the mists of time, but I can't honestly remember Z Cars being played in the couple of years after. So another question here rather than a thread of its own, We Shall Not Be Moved by the Seekers was played about 1965 as the team came out and was very much sung by Everton fans particularly at Wembley 1966. So any old arse tell me when that's stopped altogether?

Bernie Wight playing for Walsall. Mark Wallington aged 19 in goal for them - was a v good goalie for Leicester ( who also had Banks and Shilton I think).
Looking at some of the clashes made me think today's pansies would be going home in an ambulance.
Henry Newton having a mare. Dave Johnson and Alan Whittle for us.
Great footage. Not sure if we won 2-0 or 2-1 though.

When we stopped winning cup games.

I may be in the minority, but I wouldn't mind a fresh version of Z-Cars with a modern arrangement and modern recording quality.

Sacrilegious, I know, but I find the current version a bit.... tinny. Beef up those drums, I say.

Looks like Will Smith is on the comeback trail, maybe he can give it a go with a new twist. Mind you, I think he may have lost his mind.
