Spiders in the UK

its amazing that an evolutionary trail passed on by our ancestors though millennia has still such an effect on us even today, of the approximate 650 different species of spider on this side of the world only 3 are of the biting kind and that's minimal

on the other hand ticks are all around us [even if its outdoors] are far more insidious and cause untold anguish to people [the infected ones]

Sounds like a Huntsman Spider.
The smaller greenish ones are uk natives.
Darker brownish ones have hitch hiked in cargo, or been deliberately Introduced
We have them in Australia, not venomous, the clue is in the name.
As long as they eat they'll keep growing and they're 'kin fast.
The biggest I've seen was 4in across including legs.
I leave Mrs degsy Mk 2, being an Aussie to deal with such things...it's like Ripley Vs an alien - no contest

Possibly. I always thought spiders were scared but it was genuinely going for me when I grabbed my phone. Had a set of fangs on it and made a good crunch when I whacked it.
