2024/25 Nathan Patterson

Getting slaughtered on X, looks like our wider fanbase has finally ran out of patience with the lad.

….never understand why posters want a poor full back to play RW, especially when he’s average in possession, doesn’t have quality to go past opposition defenders and offers little threat in the top third. He doesn’t get more games because he’s a liability yet posters want him to play more.

Very odd.
I think it's people who can't admit they're wrong, grasping at any straw they can think of.

It's purely down to Coleman. Was introduced higher up the field with a solid right back behind him to get up to the speed of the league because he was coming from a lower level league and wasn't desperately needed.
Patterson was playing top flight, albeit Scottish, football so should already have been coached enough to look like a right back.

He played right back, was isolated by McNeil constantly coming inside and yet held his own 15th minute onwards.

He went past their players several times and put some good crosses in.
Thats the thing this season the fb wont get the same protection what we had under dyche. I think he does have room to improve just imo dont think will ever be here. Dont think we can give him the game time, is time to move him on

I didn’t see the game today so not passing comment myself but surely you’d have to say a PL player holding his own between the 15th and 58th minutes against a championship side is not actually a compliment.
