I’ve always found these games weird. For other clubs as well. It’s supposed to be about getting the match fitness you just can’t get from training, but everyone then saunters around with zero intensity. A chance for fringe players to raise the mangers eyebrow, and half the players look bored to tears and would rather still be on hols.

It’s not us it’s most PL clubs. Would be quite novel if a manager went against the grain and demanded the team destroys all weaker opposition and goes undefeated.

Scorelines are irrelevant. But top sportsmen/women would surely rather go into a season battering everyone.

Weird. Don’t even make much money out of it as no TV.
