Beer, revisited

Worst service I've had in a long time in a pub in Westbourne Park on Saturday.
We called in for for a last pint after the gig, was about 11.25, they're due to close at midnight. Barman didn't acknowledge us despite being the only people waiting while he fecklessly poured 4 pints of (apparently) gin and tonic. Then wandered off. His manager pointed us out to him, he comes over and says:
'what can I get you?'
'two pints of lager mate'
'Oh... the bars closed'
'You're open til midnight aren't you?'
'Erm... we're closing early tonight'
'Why did you ask us what we wanted then?'
'Erm... I can can ask my manager if you want spirits?'
'No mate, you're a 'kin clown show'.

I've had rude service, I've had aggressive service, this was just baffling.

And while we're on the subject, @UKPUBS - wipe your god damn bar tops!!

Had this today, dreadful, tasteless and with no redeeming features at all.

Thank goodness for Peerless, a summer's delight.

Tragic news.

The iconic and truly wonderful Kirkstone Pass Inn, Cumbria, having been sold four years ago and shrouded in a veil of secrecy ever since, is re opening.

However it’s not re opening as a pub, the beautiful and historic interior has been gutted and turned into four air ultra modern air bnb units, with the bar area turned into a gin palace, with the intention of renting the whole place out for stag and hen weekends.

The owners of the past four years have hidden their intentions from the likes of CAMRA and the local community and there’s up roar about it.

The building is not listed, which I find very surprising, as the pub dates back to medieval times.

Not only the pub, but the whole pass is subject to all year round extreme weather and regularly gets snowed in.

I really don’t think they’ve thought this one through and can’t see it lasting long tbh.

I could’ve cried when I saw what they’d done to the place, one of my favourite pubs in the whole of the UK 😢
