Favourite 3 and worst 3 transfers you can remember.

I would have a tough time choosing my favourite transfers, but my worst transfers are much easier to name:

1. Maupay - classless both on and off the pitch.
2. Gbamin - almost always injured and never lived up to his £25m fee. There was also talk fhat he intended to use us as a stepping stone, yet he ended up joining Dunkerque following the termination of his contract.
3. Antolin Alcaraz - disastrous defender who added nothing to the side.

Idrissa Gueye - “he’s rubbish Dad Villa were relegated he’ll be crap” I havent lived that one down.

Yakubu - signing a really good striker who you knew was a sure thing. Non nonsense just got it done

Wild card one - selling Rodwell to City for a fortune when you knew he wasn’t all that.

Worst:

Simon Davies - worst player I’ve seen play for the club

Klaassen - scouts should’ve seen that coming

….i’d say Henry Newton. If I remember rightly, he came in for big money, high profile when Ball left but was a big disappointment.
Newton came and Tommy Jackson went to Forest in part exchange. Tommy played better for us although Newton was played at left back a lot of the time.

Rod Belfitt been mentioned & Bernie Wright, took some beating & Iain Wilson been mentioned - mine was James Beattie £8 million when Dean Ashton was down the road at Crewe for just one million ..... an Everton that moment - Beattie went a full season on scoring one pen .....
Chebes & Vaughn were miles better too ....
Belfitt will always be the worst for me. He looked like an old man who smoked rollies and would cough his guts up if he received the ball.

Best
Kevin Campbell. The most important signing we made in the modern era for me. Dragged is to safety (with a bit of help from Scott Gemmill too in that season). We were really circling the drain at that point.
Paul Power. What a clever signing he was. Everyone thought he was passed it. Was massive in us winning the league that season.
James Tarkowski. Free transfer who became our captain and never missed a game (Until recently obviously) I think he is boss.

Worst.
Replacing Bent with Beattie. It made zero sense. They are not remotely the same type of player.
Maupay. Similar to the Beattie one really. I don't think he is horrific as we saw him here but he was never going to work up front on his own filling in for DCL with zero change in play style.
John Spencer. Half decent player in his day but played 7 times or so for us and I don't even think he kicked the ball.

Honorable mention. All the bog average 20-30m signings we made under Moshiri.

Most of those were before my time Joey but I do remember Beattie - it never really happened for him at Everton did it... injuries and he was always carrying far too much weight.

Whoops missed one

El Ghazi - crap player who you knew would be crap but I don’t think anybody could predict how weird the whole loan would be. Made zero sense, can only assume it was some weird finances thing for one of the clubs

OK.

I am nominating by best three based on established players I was desperate for us to sign even before we were linked to them rather than players like Coleman, Cahill, Baines, Southall etc. who were relatively unknown but turned out to be great signings.

Top 3…Alan Ball, Big Bob, and a tie for third between Gary Lineker and Romelu Lukaku.

Worst three signings?

Blimey where do you start,

So again, I am going for established players in their prime (as opposed to the likes of Gazza, Ginola, Mark Hughes etc.) who I was anxious to sign but turned out pretty meh.

Top of the list Nicky Barmby.

Then Beattie.

And Richard Wright.
