Cycling thread

My brother has worked as a doctor at a cycling performance lab on the continent. He's seen a lot of now famous cyclists in the lab at 18-19 years old. And while Pog was impressive, he didn't outshine his peers the way he does now. Some other south-american ex-tour winners, on the contrary, did. A certain man from Leeds did remarkably well as well.

This doesn't mean that a man can't develop. Nor does it mean you'll win the tour if you perform well on these tests. It is however very strange seeing these types of differences. Certainly if the man in question didn't attain these numbers 24 months ago.

Spoils cycling for me, to be honest.

Sorry, that doesn't add up. Pog at 19 was remarkable. He won the tour of Algarve and California... won 3 stages at the Vuelta and young the young riders classification.

Anyone here ride? Thinking of getting a Road bike or Gravel bike. Tested out a Specialized Allez two days ago
It's been ages since I rode so a lot of the new features like disc brakes and drop bars were new to me. Any advice on here for me?

What kind of riding are you thinking of doing? Bikes seem to have become extremely expensive in recent years, so whatever you go for, you might do well in the 2nd hand market.

He was 20 in 2019.

I'm sorry I'm not having that someone winning major stage races and grand tours stages at 20 wasn't exceptional compared to bernal or pidcock.

He won the tour at 21!!

The youngest ever rider to win a UCI race and won the Tour de l'Avenir at 18
Wasn't Evenepoel younger when he won San Sebastian.
A lot of riders have won the Tour de l'Avenir at 19, a year after Bernal...
