2024/25 Jack Harrison

Everton are only interested in him for free, which means Leeds taking a PSR loss and voiding his contract and Everton negotiating a new contract. It's really not worth the effort.

Mentioned it the other day, he’s got 3 years of his contract left on £90k a week, if Leeds voided his contract wouldn’t he have to agree to giving up what he would be owed in wages for those 3 years?

I’ve been posting about this for a while now that it doesn’t make sense for anyone, going in depth on the economics of it. My “best case” scenario for anyone who thinks this is realistic would start at £12 million minimum in fees and wages for Harrison to accept a 50% paycut with performance incentives. It’s all so stupid and there’s no way anyone thinks it’s worth the effort to make it happen because there’s no payoff for anyone.

Why on earth would he walk away from 3 yrs at 90k a week and why would Leeds let a premier league player walk for free? Never going to happen.

Just pray Moyes stays well away.
Harrison had his agents reaching out to MLS clubs to hold "exploratory talks" to try to find someone willing to meet his wages. He would do well in that league, and there are a few teams willing to spend that kind of money. It was his best option to get out and have a real chance at producing numbers again, but nothing has come of it.

Leeds are disgusted with him, both the organization and the fanbase, and they want to be rid of him. Our new CEO, who was CEO of Leeds at the time, wasn't impressed with Harrison choosing to help Everton avoid relegation rather than helping his home club win promotion.

People keep saying Moyes rates him, but the truth is that he was encouraging a player who was in his squad and struggling. There's no real reason to thing he's in love with the guy just because he said nice things about him. He may feel like there's a player in there somewhere after watching Harrison's hat trick against West Ham, but he's not an idiot.

With everything going against, I firmly believe there's no way in hell Jack Harrison ever plays for Everton again.

As you say Everton want him for free, which means another loan with some obligation to buy suits everybody.

Leeds get Everton to pay some of his wages and everybody gets what they want.

I know you have convinced yourself that it wont happen, but yet again, I really wish I shared your view, its not the impossible deal you think.

But lets all hope its all just 2 + 2 by lazy journos and there is nothing in this.

I don't think a loan with an obligation to buy is the same as a free. I think it's more accurate to say they would sign him on a free transfer if he agreed to new terms. It doesn't make sense to pay him £90k a week for three years, and it doesn't make sense to pay a large fee.

The only sensible solution where everyone wins is one in which Everton only pays his book value as a termination fee, which is peanuts, and they separate by mutual consent, allowing him to negotiate a new deal at reduced wages with performance bonuses. The net effect would neutral PSR outcomes for both clubs, depending on how Everton count the fee. Harrison wouldn't be the first player to take reduced wages to get out of a bad situation or to go where he wants. Performance bonuses are kind of the key.

But just because you can do something doesn't mean you will, especially when there are better things to do.

It wouldn’t be worth all the hassle and a waste of a wage because to be honest he’s crap.
