Cox was more subtle (@RAFUH ) you have to read more into him, Hopkins was more performative and graphic, also quotable, and working against Foster and that dynamic helped juxtaposed with the sleaze bag Glenn. Cox is nastier because of a shared knowledge with Petersen, they tip toe around it outside of the clues we get from the police chief and the journalist. It's marvellous story telling, we the audience become the investigator, the dread, the bedroom scene, 'he tried to fight even with his throat cut because he saw the killer move to the children's rooms'. 'kin hell. That's not nice to type. A study of horror. Inhuman evil. Enjoyed.

Loved the electro background music in Manhunter as well. Great film.
