Everton Youth Teams Thread

It’s always a fraught area if you get it wrong but I thought it was Gospel-Eze.

Nah the trialist was there on the left:

Wish we would get a few more in for are youth squad.
wonder if we could get likes the lad that 16 yr came on for Leicester last year Monga or something like that ,
looked an exiting player
they are getting done for PSR supposedly.
So might be worth a punt.
Just to give us a bit of a boost.
.

I partly agree with your sentiment about getting in a few more. However , I was actually pleased that Jeremy Monga has committed to Leicester for his Scholarship and apparently a pro deal when he’s 17. U16’s particularly seem to be targeted by the likes of City, United, RS and Spurs , they can get them in early pre scholarship, low cost/ low risk and stockpile their academies. It just seems wrong to me that smaller clubs who invest in players in their academy from an early age get peanuts really when the big boys come along . It’s an area the FA should be regulating better, but won’t because of the clubs involved.

If Leicester are having PSR issues and have a potential 'star' in their youth teams then there is no harm in making a fair offer to Leicester for the player.

We've just spent £4mil on a backup keeper. Going for players like the Leicester chap (legally) should be the modus operandi of the new setup.

Good to hear the Charlton player i linked a couple of months ago + the other one (Dodds?) have joined. We should be doing this proactively and signing more for real money like Clarke etc

It’s the “ no harm in making a fair offer” that is the problem .His talent had been identified early before he’d signed a Scholarship, so the potential was there for clubs to poach him on the cheap , usually with just a derisory compensation fee. U16s particularly are so variable, in recent months there have been deals that will just be compensation fees, other deals are quoted at “ 7 figure £ deals with sell on clauses”.

Thats it isnt it...you either make a 'fair offer'...or a 'fair offer'.

Depends if you are behaving morally or to win.

With the system allowing the likes of City, Chelsea and the RS to cheat in plain sight are other clubs supposed to compete by playing by the rules and in the spirit of the game?

Either a 'fair offer' is to poach or to purchase the player from the club. It can be interpreted either way of course.

It certainly seems like a shark pit and i'd rather we saw their club in trouble with PSR and entered negotiations to sign the player the right way.

Youre either then seen as a good club or a soft touch.
