2024/25 Tim Iroegbunam

Everyone thought he was just a "psr fiddle" when we brought him in. He surprised many of us with his early performances and now everyone is saying he has to do better?

He is doing fine. Whether he ends up a regular starter or not, we clearly got the better end of the deal with villa and he's more than justified the 9m we paid for him.
Well I think all points are fair given
-nobody had ever heard of him and he was a homegrown switch deal effectively right at the psr window
-he had moments of looking absolutely boss in a team that was really poor before his injury
-he probably came back not fully fit into a team that was performing and looked off the pace
-he never really looked as commanding again even as he returned to fitness

Good thing for me is that Moyes trusted him more and more with minutes towards the end of the season so I’m sure he’s doing the right things behind the scenes and we can see the real him back fit after a proper pre season

Think he's still a more useful player than Dobbin was ever going to be so we came out ahead there

People got carried away at first and people are probably overdoing the negativity now. As you say, he's doing fine but I would say that this season, particularly with the squad rebuild, is probably make or break for him.

Agreed, I think his first few appearances were a bit overrated, and I'm not sure I get the negativity, he's 22 and trying to make his way.

This is a big season for him if he wants to become a regular PL contributor. He has obvious ability but needs help tactically.

He needs to play as high up the pitch as possible really. I think that his best position is an 8/10 hybrid type so I'd play him with Gueye and Garner with him as the highest of that trio rather than use him as an option instead of one of them. He's competing with Alcaraz for me and we need to sign another DM.

Thought he was one of the stand out players; worked hard, drove forward and put some good challenges in, was just a little sloppy at times with his passing but it's first game of preseason and terrible conditions at times.

Think there's a player there.

Despite what I've just posted, I do see still potential there. Think he really needs someone to get a grip of him positionally and defensively or he should play higher up the pitch.

Looked more like his old self last night I thought, with respect the opposition wasn't the best but still, some driving runs and good tackling back. Future looks bright with Tim and Armstrong coming through.
