Match Thread Accrington Stanley 1-1 Everton [Pre-Season 2025/26] - Tues 15th July 2025 - 7.45pm KO

Thought the young lads did well. Beto up and running which is good and centre halves were sound. Heath did more in his cameo than Alcaraz and McNeil did all game between them.
If you nutmeg lower division players and generally take the piss out of them they tend to hoof, wise opinion taken by both of them.

Can't be bothered reading through all this thread but I'm going to take a guess that people are deciding which of our players are a success and who is a waste of time based on the first preseason game, as usual.

Definitely a completely normal thing to do
Pretty sure 99% of the criticism of a preseason friendly against a lowly opponent was done with tongues firmly in cheek, very few people are genuinely arsed about last night's result. Some people on here are too thick to realise that though so heads fall off.

Fell asleep after about 15 minutes of the second half. I can't help but think that was the correct thing to do. First game of pre-season with more than a smattering of fringe players played at an easy pace - I just hope that Moyes and the team have got what they need from it.

Patterson was fine. McNeil though, neat & tidy as he was at times, was practically playing at walking pace throughout..

Now I'd potentially put that down to the fact that he knew he'd be playing the full 90 minutes so deliberately paced himself.. but then Patterson played the 90 as well and he was still busting a gut by the end 🤷‍♂️

Probably the difference between somebody who knows he has his feet under the table and one who might be shown the door

Has this all been sufficiently overanalyzed yet, or should I jump in?
Didn't see the match myself, but I can induce worry in almost any carbon-based life form if I put my mind to it.

Kudos to the actual attendees. UTFT.

Hope he takes them all season (well the one we usually get) puts his foot through the ball. Even if the keeper guesses right it'll still probably count.Ndiaye took one last season that trickled in luckily.
I want N-Jai to take them. He was flawless with them last season. One penalty against Accrington Stanley shouldn't have people thinking Beto is now our best penalty taker.
