Talking of that in the 1960s at Christmas time local teams tended to play one another - My older brother got the bus to se the blues play Burnley at Goodison in a all standing Bullens road {the current champions } massive crowds there he queued for hours got in 15 minutes late - the blues scored late on with a massive roar - got off the train in Huyton Village & made his way to a small TV rental shop to se if the other lot got beat to make his day -
To his horror our winner was an equaliser as Burnley had scored early on as he was queuing - plus the other lot had won away doh

When I was a student (late 1970s, early 1980s) ITV had a strike, the TISWAS team (Tarrant/Gorman/(I think Carolgees) not Sally James (boo)) organised a roadshow visiting a number of venues. I went to the one in Bristol. Absolutely mad, Des O'Connor LPs being flung about like razor edged discus and everybody, and everything, got soaked in water. Unfortunately that included the sound and lighting equipment and thats when the show ended. Had to go back to the bar instead.
