New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Number 1: That event he speaks of in terms of opening Goodison was not our 'first home game' there - that was later on, and that event he alludes to was a mere gala event with no football. We play our 'gala' event against Roma in a curtain raiser on August 9th, NOT Aug 24th.

Number 2: when are these tragical history tour Evertonians going to stop banging on about Goodison? It's gone. This new stadium is where we're at and they need to start looking to the future instead of trying to appeal to a sense of nostalgia.

I will always talk about Goodison because it is a big part of the history of the club and football in general. It was a big part of my life for many years, and a big part of peoples lives a lot longer than my time there.

There is no harm in recognising this history. You can both recognise history and look forward, at exactly the same time.

You can, but we're on the eve of opening up a new stadium and the constant references to Goodison from the self appointed guardians of the club's identity (a stadium which everyone can still go and visit by the way) is not reading the room.

Your head’s gonna explode the first time the crowd sings ‘We are the Goodison gang’ at Bramley Moore.

I better not use this gif on here anymore then :D

Yes, but they are not only doing this. I have seen way more new stadium posts across my feeds and here. In fact, the one that you responded to was the first Goodison related post I have seen in a while. My point stands, Goodison can still be mentioned without people going straight to 'How dare you mention the past'. Also, we left 2 months ago, I would not exactly say that was long enough to not now and again mention Goodison.

The original renders all seemed to show EVERTON in large letters on the south stand glass frontage. They seem to have done away with that and gone with subtlety, presumably thinking that exterior is a very distinctive design that will soon be known and recognised nationally/internationally as OUR stadium.

Dan Meiss said it was a placeholder a while back.

Pubs, bars and restaurants galore in the new place by the looks of things. Definitely been designed with a view to people turning up earlier and staying later, perhaps catch the early/late game on TV with a pint and maybe some food. Looks like they’re trying to curtail the everyone in/everyone out nature of a game at Goodison, and change people’s habits on a match day Hopefully this will help somewhat with the congestion issues too

Not me, I'm an in and out man.

Quite right my son, we'll all keep our fingers crossed that it gets through planning without being called in by the SoS 🤞🏻

God bless.
