2024/25 David Moyes

No Rita I doubt Walter could have helped him there — the reference was to Moyes and mostly his dad who was a firm friend of Alex Ferguson in the past and also not too long ago when Ferguson was retired and Moyes Senior could be sitting next to him at United home games, they grew up together in Glasgow.
I suppose I asked because Walter recommended Moyes for the job here, and he (Walter) was later Fergusons assistant at man utd.

Yes that’s true— I actually wanted Moyes to come here when he was PNE’s manager myself, wrote him a letter praising his teams performance after we beat them 2-0 in an FA cup game, I thought they were the better team that day, he replied to the letter.

Then I definitely thought he had outstayed his welcome well before his time was up.

No see my reply to Rita Poon if you are interested!
Interesting that mate.
However if you are still maintaining that Moyes was only very highly regarded at that time only by an old family friend , then you are rewriting history. I believe that the vast majority of football fans thought that Moyes had done , and was doing a good job in the circumstances. In other words he was very highly regarded.

Blue, fans don’t appoint managers no matter how highly regarded they are by football fans and Moyes was getting plenty of stick off Everton fans and fans of other clubs might not have been as interested in Moyes as you think they were, he was certainly no danger to any of their teams regarding winning trophies.

Not sure Rita but he was interested in the compliments I gave to his Captain and schemer in the team, I forget his name now but I said he was very good and with a yard or two on his pace he would be top class— Moyes replied that the lad was heavy boned and they had done everything to reduce his weight in order to try and get his pace quicker but it hadn’t worked. If anyone has an old programme of that game it would have his name.

The team was playing great stuff in that final season. Bobby ultimately took over as it was peaking and then drove it off a cliff!
