I’d say the opposite is true about the league cup, the days of Tranmere and Bradford getting to the final are long gone, it’s a serious competition and we need to give it our full attention.

You’re right mate , i was more referring to the way some fellow blues and fans of other clubs reacted to Newcastle winning it, being dismissive of it and its relevance.

I would love us to win it. It’s getting really boring seeing the cycle repeat itself here, we have to stop this monotonous existence.

Headbanger.

Was never a possibility.
It's dead weird to me to see him taken even slightly seriously saying things like "We were waiting on wiring instructions" and acting like the rug was pulled out from under him when under no circumstances could he own the club at the time, as he still had a large proportion of shares in Palace, which were going nowhere fast!

Nice video but was this text checked before issue???

It’s getting us successful that will be the challenge, well the league anyway, to put it mildly.

I don’t see why we can’t look to win one of the domestic cups or at least reach a final in a year or so. Ending the trophy drought has to be the aim otherwise what is the point.

We won’t progress if we bring in mediocre filler to boost squad numbers. What we have now, a large part of it can be the squad and any additions should be of the aim to be regular starters who substantially improve us.

Some dismissed Newcastle’s league cup win due to its regression in status over the years ,even so, i would love us to do the same , deep down most of us would.
Love a league cup win…a cup we have always been half arsed about such a shame

Admittedly haven’t followed the palace and Lyon saga very closely but if Everton and Roma both qualified for the same comp at some point would we be in the same position?
Do you remember Daveks constant complaints about Dan never having showed up to an Everton match? Well considering its owned under a business and hes never shown up its awfully hard to claim he has a decisive influence on the club. Its genius.

You might have a point here mate.
Europe might very well be the reason he's staying away, or been advised to stay away.

I think it has always been a second rate competition since its inception.
Its high point was around the time we met the RS in the final .
Its main purpose nowadays is to allow the PL clubs to give their reserves a run out .
And it is usually won at a canter by one of the top six.
It would still be good to win it , but its significance is minimal , no one really cares who wins it ( apart from the winners , obviously)

The rules for multi-club ownership in UEFA competitions are pretty clear (except to John Textor), attending games has nothing to do with it.

We obviously don't have an issue this season, but I would be amazed if they don't already have their ducks in a row. Something like this slipping by, especially with Palace as evidence, doesn't seem like something they'd allow to happen.

He is the Chairman of both clubs. To that extent it doesn't matter whether he never attends any games, or goes to us on the Saturday and Rome Sunday.

Unless UEFA change their rules regarding persons with significant interest, then as the clubs are under the ownership of legally separate entities (Roundhouse Capital Holdings, & Romulus and Remus Investments LLC), there is no issue regarding European competition.
