TV Series

Started Foundation on apple this week. Watched the first 3 episodes and really like it. Game of thrones meets Star Wars a little to me. The written work, published so long ago, a masterpiece of course.
I started off with the TV show and I'm now halfway through reading the Second Foundation.

As always, it's much more preferable going front he adaptation to the books because they showed me something and I didn't have any book assumptions. Having read as far as I have now I can understand some of the criticisms but it's still very good TV and I am loving the Demerzel and Empire bits we get.

Some of the book resolutions are very clever but would make for terrible television so I can see the changes being necessary even if they are significant departures.

The new series of 24 hrs in Police Custody

Two cases in and without doubt this is the best of these police fly on the walls.

Sensitively done and amazing production.
Yep very good. What I don’t understand is why the criminals agree to take part when they have committed some terrible crimes. Like the most recent episode is about a serial rapist. Why would you agree to appear on camera being interviewed about this crimes? Seems odd

Apparently they have signs all over the police custody suite, off camera, telling them that they’re being filmed and have the right to decline to be filmed !

Finished Sandman S2 part 1.

Looks great but unfortunately feels rushed. Guess they had wind of the trouble and knew it was done after this season so have tried to square it away.

Think the new additions, especially Delirium and Destruction are good, especially Steve Coogan.

Watched anything good lately, lads?

I'm in anime heaven at the moment but others that hit the spot:

- Mercy For None (belter Korean revenge thriller)
- Sandman (Part 1)
- Mobland (still can't work out if it's meant to be a comedy)
- Andor (obviously)
- Dept. Q (was quirky and quite unpredictable)

Glad I caught your post as I knew / reminded I had a copy of the book from my old man many years ago, now found it. Foundation, foundation Empire and Second Foundation! I’ll start it over the weekend!

Nice one. I'm trying to blast through the second foundation just before the third season comes out.

I'm really enjoying the scale of the space opera he has constructed and the tie-ins the show and later books have with Asimov's other work.

I'm 6 episodes through The Bear, season 4.

Still fantastic.

I know some complain about it being slow, but the attention to detail and development of characters is what makes it so great. Also the fact they are half hour episodes and not full hours

Never got past the first season myself. Thought it was great but I couldn’t handle how anxious it made me feel 😂
