Mid-table obscurity would be a bonus.
Too far behind the other teams, and not enough to spend.
Who are we too far behind? I think were capable of 7th/8th next season

Likes of Brentford, Bournemouth, Fulham, Brighton, Forest, Palace etc aren't all that different in terms of quality, we need more in attack, but defensively were stronger than those.

I want us in the conference league, our form since Moyes arrived would suggest we could be in the running for top 7/8

need to be aiming for Europe, weve already finished 11th/13th last couple of seasons without any kind of net spend, this summer is different

For a start you have to ignore the first month or two of the season, while loans and last minute frees are brought in, players are integrated, and everyone gets up to fitness.

That loss of points alone will keep us out of Europe before we start.
Not all signings will fire instantly, some will need time to get used to English football. That will probably keep us out of the top half.

Everything would have to run smoothly from the opening day. Moyes doesn’t do that.

"If wishes were horses, beggers would ride". I want to end up as Champions but I can't give a realistic shout till the squad is more or less known.

55-65 points and firmly chasing a European spot. Even if that seems a stretch, its certainly got to be the first target to aim for in order to show progression.

A Europa League spot for starters as it gives us two pathways for our inevitable march to the Champions League.

We can then decide in the New Year of the following season if we need to fall back to the Europa if our league campaign is perhaps not going as smoothly as we would hope.

Bowling over the continental chumps and securing the Europa will have the “silver lining” of giving us a second rate pot as an appetizer ahead of our jousts with the European elite.

Pointless answering this until we see what the squad looks like at the end of the window

How we do this season will be dictated, more than any season in our modern history, by what happens in this transfer window because of the sheer volume of players we need to fill a squad.

Getting to the top half would be great progress. If we are sniffing a European place and don't get it though I will be calling for Moyes head in my overreaction to the disappointment.

Completely depends on the incoming transfers
100 percent mate. I’d be quietly confident we won’t be in a relegation scrap with Moyes in charge but realistically we can’t be expecting top 6.

The top teams continue to strengthen and we’d need to make some top level signings to compete. Can’t see us lashing 60 mill on a player never mind 3 or 4 at that price.

Hopefully we can have a season where we comfortably finish in the mid table at the very least and maybe have a cup run

This won't be an overnight thing though

I expect it to be a slog at points this upcoming season in all honesty

A lot of new players all needing to gel

It's going to be rocky at points

We need to be patient and not demand the earth too early

We will need a good 2 or 3 years of repeating the last two seasons of midtable finishes before we can even think of qualifying for Europe.

That’s the way football works. It’s like a career progression, you have to wait your turn and work your way up the ranks. You can’t just overtake Premier League stalwarts like Forest, Villa and Newcastle in one season.

First we have to overtake the major mid-table finishers like Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth, which is no mean feat, these clubs have been holding down these positions for decades, centuries even. So it will take at least two years to overtake them.

Then, and only then, will we be able to even think about battling it out with the likes of Forest for a European place.
