2024/25 Beto

Is Beto sticking around?
I would hope so. He showed in the last few months last season that he can score and cause defenders a lot of trouble, works really well with Alcaraz too. Barry coming in could well not take to the PL and offloading Beto could leave us stuck with a CF not fitting in well and having no other option. It doesn`t make sense to get rid of a CF that has been scoring.

I'm not a fan at all and I'm still hoping there's a chance we sell him this summer and turn a PSR profit on him, but I'd have to admit that your logic is perfectly sound here. You'd have to be replacing him with someone who you knew could do a job at PL level and those players are few and far between and tend to cost a lot of money. As things stand, selling him wouldn't seem to make a huge amount of sense

It is up to Barry to take the shirt off Beto. Would be silly to sell Beto not knowing if Barry can cut it. Could take Barry a season to get up to speed, yet again he might hit the ground running. If Beto does get sold then we have to get another striker in. If Beto stays then we still need another striker. At the moment Beto is the only PL proven striker at the club and has proven he can get goals. We must keep him in the event of Barry being a slow starter.

Big season for Beto. So what if he's not silky skilled. Lukaku was hardly dennis bergkamp. Let Alcaraz show the guile around him. Theres a 20 goal striker there if he gets picked regular. 8 goals in 15 starts last season has imo gone under the radar a bit. Thats an excellent strike rate.
No snobbery about Beto. He's awkward but defenders wont like him and his attitude is spot on.
Deserves the chance.

I reckon we’d try bringing someone like Ivanovic in if we sell Beto, hoping that either him or Barry would be able to make the step up.

I’m for keeping Beto. He’s not pretty to watch but he finds ways to score and his strength and pace cause defenders issues.
