Not sure about him Dave.
Undoubtedly an excellent player for Villa but will be 31 later this year.

A new challenge for him at a new club, new manager, new teammates, new fans could see an uplift in form.

It is never going to be a long term signing but a raft of new players who will probably join us, the move to the new stadium to be managed then experienced players like McGinn can be very good value for two or three seasons.

This is why Seamus was kept after all.

A worthwhile risk at a sensible fee....but very unlikely to happen imo.

….looked like he’d gone backwards for Villa in the 2nd half of the season, very surprised how poor he was when I watched him. Possibly carrying an injury but looked slow and overweight.

For a low fee he'd be a decent player to pick up and add a bit more quality to the side for a couple of years. It would have to be a very low fee though, otherwise it just doesn't feel worthwhile.

His performance v PSG at Villa Park in April when they were 5-1 down on aggregate is well worth watching for any naysayers. When he was taken off (on a yellow) Villa lost the bit between their teeth. He always seems to turn up against us, too. I think the only time he's lost against us was in the cup when he was OOP at LB.

Would bring essential leadership qualities.

Admittedly, I'd like the fee to be low at his age range.

He always plays well against us but fee and wages I would assume would be high. For the same price/wages maybe we could get Harmer and Ndidi?

I like him. He's a good character to have in the squad and a tidy player. Always plays like it's the last game he will play too. Maximum effort. If the fee and wages are right I'd have no issues.
