Things that you were forced to do as a kid ?

The rain, it raineth every day
I was dragged down to my local YMCA when I was about 10 to learn the ancient art of Judo. I was tiny, in there, were six foot, 13 year olds with moustaches from the rough end of town who didn't appear to grasp the inner wisdom of Judo. Three months I suffered being thrown around like a rag doll. I never progressed from a white belt - the scars run deep.

Dragged down south at age 12 when the family decided to up sticks to live on the south coast. Left friends behind and found myself in a town full of scowly old people, who were nothing like as friendly and sociable as we northerners, and the relatively few kids considered themselves too posh to play football. I was like a young Crocodile Dundee delivering unrequited "hello mate" in the streets, until I had my life and hopes sapped from me by the perennial isolation caused by southern British reserve.

Also ... make to go to a pantomime at the age of 6. Utterly juvenile drivel with stupid actors who clearly knew the baddie was "behind them" but pretended not to know, for attention seeking reasons. Quite why the audience didn't realise they were being played, was beyond me. Idiots.

quite surprising how long genuine dislike can last.
