F1 2025 (and other motorsports)

Just watched the qualifying and well that was a surprise. Where did that lap come from?

Definitely found the right balance RB in the end and did the job tbh. Russell another with a surprising lap.

Hamilton was a tenth up on provisional pole until that last corner, what a bummer. So marginal and the small errors cost Piastri and Hamilton front row I think.

The Red Bull couldn’t turn yesterday

He’s on a different level

Judging by the way they go through 2nd drivers the Red Bull is clearly fast but seemingly requires ridiculous levels of skill, concentration and nerve even by F1 driver standards to get a tune out of.

Plenty don't like how he comes across but in terms of racing ability he's in a field of one.

RB are in big trouble if the rumours are true and Mercedes can turn his head.

Question is, have they sacrificed their race setup to qualify in higher position?

With less downforce the tyres could scrub more and they could be out of it with extra pit stops. On the other hand the tyres could also not be punished so much, if they are missing that maximum cornering speed and they look after them. Silverstone has a habit of making the tyres go pop, so could be a genius move.

All to play out later.

Not if it’s a damp track as is predicted.

They do seem to think the low down force will affect their race pace, cornering and possibly tyre life. If it rains thought, it just makes things even more interesting which will be fun.
