2024/25 Idrissa Gueye

What does Keane's extension look like?

Years?

Wages?

Any word?

BBC gossip reporting the same, 1 year deal plus a year's option.

Everton's 35-year-old Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye, whose contract expired on Monday, has signed a new one-year deal with the option of another year.

Contract expired Monday, signs new deal on Friday, saves us 3 days wages, every little saved helps improve our PSR position.

I am not sure if there is something about paying them for another month whilst they are free agents. We are likely still paying DCL, Doucoure, Young etc unttil emd of July too unless they sign up with another club before then.

….you have an obsession with age, Branthwaite is 23, O’Brien 24, Garner 24, Alcaraz 22, Ndiaye 25, Beto 27, McNeil 25, all regular starters, all contracted for next season. If we bring Barry in, he’s 22.

We need good footballers.

Read an article the other day about the average ages of seria a clubs. The oldest 2 squads…. Napoli and inter Milan. League winners and champions league finalists.

We need a mix

You need to be quick and clinical to be a good counter attacking team. We were trying to do it with Jack Harrison and Calvert Lewin.

No wonder we were bottom of the open play goals list, by a considerable margin.

Will also help that Barry is going to be a threat from set pieces. Ideally whoever we sign as a partner for Gueye will be able to contribute additional goals from both open play and be a threat from set pieces (similar to Onana was really)

1 year, same wage likely
I bet he has become one of our top earners with the new contract. I tell you what, he's worth every single penny.
The ultimate professional, his energy doesn't even dip when he's fasting. Most important player in this current side. Over the moon we have kept his services for... hopefully !! the next two years.
