If he’s 4th choice centreback and now on significantly reduced wages then I can understand some of the logic behind him re signing as it frees up finances for other positions. Obviously nobody is anywhere near stepping up from the youth team which is a shame and the squad has a significant lack of quality which needs addressing more than central defence.

i can't believe i'm saying this but Keane resigning on a reduced wage makes sense. We aren't likely to sign better 4th choice CB without spending money and I'd like to see all funds going towards improving the attack.

It’s not spectacular, but it’s spectacularly sensible.

After the past ten years this is the sort of decision we need.

Why spend on an emergency backup 4th CB who can pull off the odd BLAMMO when we have a perfectly good one right there.

One long term injury (Lord forbid) to a 1st, 2nd or third choice CB and he's playing, and Everton are losing.

Glad he's staying. Got a goal in him and actually scored some very important ones too over the years. In fact he started the comeback in the Palace game and without his 90th min stunner against Spurs in Dyches first season we would have been down. Show some respect people!!

Will be fine alongside Branthwaite or o brien if tarkowski is ever injured. Gets the club and would rather he stayed than left.

I think that we are being unfair saying he has no ambition and is settling for being 4th choice.

I think he has the hunger to reclaim third choice centre back and can see it happening if we have an injury or 2, and we can't shuffle a full back into the centre of defence.
