Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

EVERTON SIGN GORTER

After Billy Crellin was released, Everton needed a new backup keeper and made a move for Celtic's Jay Gorter. After leaving Ajax for Celtic in 2025, he never made the first team playing behind Pierluigi Gollini. A loan move to Genoa in 2026/27 saw him make 39 appearances for the Serie A club helping the club avoid relegation. Everton were happy to bring the Dutch keeper in on a four year contract.

TRANSFER WINDOW UPDATE

Everton are looking to raise funds with a big sale on the horizon. Karim Konate is reportedly the interest of Atletico Madrid with Simeone making the 23 year old Striker his summer priority. If Everton can attract a huge fee for Konate it would open up more incoming business in the window.
Failed in the Premier League. The low intensity of la liga will suit what is possibly the slowest footballer since Charlie Adams.

TRANSFER WINDOW UPDATE
24th July 2027

Shakhtar Donetsk have signed Lucas Digne for £1M with the transfer potentially rising to £1.3M. Youngster Jack Patterson has joined Ipswich Town on a permanent transfer for £450k potentially rising to £575k. Federico Redondo's time at Everton didn't work out so he has joined Getafe on a season loan with obligation to buy for £600k. New Spanish Midfielder Javier Fernandez has joined Auxerre in Ligue 2 on a season loan. No new signings for Everton since bringing in Jay Gorter. It is rumoured Everton are lining up a deal for Eric Dier. The 33 year old was recently relegated with Brighton and is looking for a return to the top flight. Alberto Moleiro has made noise in the press about playing at a higher level and it seems Juventus are keen on the left winger. Everton are yet to find a replacement for Karim Konate so his supposed transfer to Atletico Madrid is no longer going ahead.

EVERTON PULL OFF DORRINGTON

Alfie Dorrington.webp

Tottenham Hotspur needed to bring in revenue and in order to do so they had to let go a promising asset like Alfie Dorrington. It was perfect for Everton who needed to strengthen at the back and a player like Dorrington, with a bright future ahead of him excites Duncan Ferguson. "We paid good money to bring Alfie here but we know a player with his potential will help shape the future of this club."

Dorrington was uncertain of his Spurs future as he was loaned out to Scottish Champions Celtic last season as he helped them secure their 55th league title. Alfie stated that first team football was imperative to him and with him recently making the England squad, he didn't want to lose his place. A move to Everton could be very beneficial to his career.

ALBERTO MOLEIRO LEAVES EVERTON

Moleiro.webp

It's disappointing news for Everton supporters as they lose their silky wizard winger to Italian giants Juventus. Moleiro wasn't always a starter for Everton but his impact was always noticeable as he had the ability to turn a game. Competing with Nico Gonzalez for the left side throughout his three seasons at the club, Moleiro certainly showed his class and wowed supporters with some fantastic football. Joining Everton from Las Palmas for £8.75M, it's a good business model for the club as the winger moves on for over a £30M profit. "I've had three fantastic seasons at Everton and have enjoyed my time playing at Bramley Moore, I've learnt so much from Duncan Ferguson and Jon Aspiazu that I feel ready to take the next step in my career and playing in Europe at 23 years of age is huge for me. Everton have been brilliant with me and my family and took care of everything. I've never experienced a crowd like ours before and to hear them chanting my name every week made the hairs on my neck stand up. Good luck for the future Toffees!" Alberto Moleiro's latest instagram post addressing his transfer to Italy.

EVERTON BRING IN TWO NEW PLAYERS

Olise.webp

With Alberto Moleiro going one way, Michael Olise came the other. A magnificent capture by Duncan Ferguson bringing in an influential footballer such as Olise. The Right Winger had a solid season for Crystal Palace helping them qualify for the Champions League getting 8 goals and 7 assists. However Palace needed to bring money into the club with very little outgoings over the last few years and The Eagles still had time to line up a quality replacement.

Moukoko.webp

Everton needed another Striker and what a signing! Youssoufa Moukoko on a season long loan from Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund have a number of attacking options so loaning out Moukoko for the season with an option to buy at the end could be a sure-fire way to get some revenue into the club but Everton will be put off by the huge valuation and opt against it. Moukoko only managed four goals last season and it seems Edin Terzic wants the Striker to get more experience before becoming a member of the first team. Everton will suit Moukoko as they look to rebuild on last season's terrible finish and fight for the top half once again. It's safe to say, Moshiri has backed the manager but now the manager must start getting a tune out of the quality at his disposal.

SEASON PREVIEW 2027/28

Duncan Ferguson was moving into his fifth season as Everton manager. Ferguson will be keen to put last season’s embarrassment behind him and start the season competitively away against Fulham. Everton were hit with a couple of injuries going into the new season. Roony Bardghji suffered another groin injury and new signing Bilal El Khannouss was out for a couple of weeks with an ankle injury. A good start will change the feeling around the club and the optimism around some good signings this summer such as young Alfie Dorrington, El Khannouss and the experienced Michael Olise. Karim Konate decided he wanted to stay at the club and make himself a hero as the number one Striker. John Hepburn was now part of the first team and was looking forward to a huge season with the club he’s been with for the last four years. Jordan Pickford extended his contract for another season and was going into his eleventh season as an Everton player.

Fulham had a strong transfer window and Rooney brought in players such as Leon Bailey, Goncalo Guedes and Samuel Edozie. Bailey started on the left for Fulham. For Everton, Michael Olise was handed his debut starting on the right wing. Gonzalez started on the left with Cunha playing behind Konate. New signings Makovec, Moukoko Gorter and Dorrington were all on the bench. It’s a clean slate and a chance for everyone to to impress. Ferguson will be expecting a huge improvement on last season and will not accept mediocrity. Garner got the first shot of the game with a low drive heading towards the bottom right corner and Rajkovic tipped it away. Samardzic’s corner was knocked back to Garner who drove the shot from the edge of the box, the keeper spilled it and Gonzalez slotted but the flag went up for offside. Everton with the free-kick on 33 minutes, Samardzic got it into the box and Gonzalez flashed it across the face of goal clipping the post and Branthwaite was there to knock it in! 1-0! Fulham had a free-kick in a dangerous position, 25 yards out, Tsygankov lined it up and blasted it into the top left corner, fantastic goal and the equaliser just before half-time. On 56 minutes Bailey got down the left with Patterson unable to stop the cross, Pickford committed but was beaten by Arezo who headed into the gaping net, 2-1 to Fulhan. Everton made their first change with around 25 minutes to go, Olise was brought off after an average debut and was replaced my Danny Mead who Ferguson was going to play on the right. Frerguson made his next change with around 20 minutes to go, new signing Moukoko came on for Cunha. Fulham went for the long ball and Patterson mis-timed it allowing Bailey to run down the left and cross to the near post for Guedes to score on his debut, 3-1. Two minutes to go and Valle played a good ball forward for Gonzalez, he overhit the cross but Patterson kept it in, he passed inside to Mead, who turned and slotted into the bottom left corner, 3-2! Everton in with a chance! Fulham got their fourth and pretty much ended Everton’s hopes when Wilson put the corner into the box, Bassey headed against the bar and Bailey got it over the line at the far post to make it 4-2. It got worse when Patterson tried to play a pass back to Pickford, he hesitated and Guedes anticipated it perfectly and knocked it in, 5-2. Everton thrashed. Leon Bailey was excellent and schooled Nathan Patterson on the opening day of the season. Everton picking up where they left off.

DF: This isn’t the start we wanted but we got what we deserved because we defended terribly and allowed players too much time and space. We gave away soft goals and the defending was very Sunday league. We took risks and got caught out by a side that played a lot better than we did.

DANNY MEAD SIGNS FIRST PROFESSIONAL CONTRACT

13th August 2027, Danny Mead turned 17 years of age and was rewarded with his first professional football contract. Duncan Ferguson presented Danny Mead to the media as he signed a three year contract worth £11k per week rising to £16k per week when we reaches 25 league games for the club. “Danny is the future of this football club and we are delighted to offer him a professional contract as he continues to impress us all daily with his incredible ability. Danny can be a giant in the game and we are doing all we can to nurture him in the right possible way. I sit here next to Danny extremely proud and want him and his family know that they have our utmost support at this football club. For anything they need, they only need to ask.” Duncan Ferguson was proud sitting next to the what he describes regularly as “the next best thing”. Danny Mead has not yet spoken to the media but also said a few words. “Being here today, at this football club signing a contract is so surreal. I feel like I’m dreaming to be honest! All I want to do is play football for Everton and to be paid to do so is just hard to believe! I love it here and never want to be anywhere else.”

Duncan Ferguson took his players on a day trip this week to Alton Towers to try to put some of the concerns to bed. Whether it worked will remain to be seen on the football pitch and Ferguson opted for a different approach. Alfie Dorrington got his debut lining up with Branthwaite and Matsima. Cunha and Olise seemed to form a two behind Striker Konate. Danny Mead was absent from the squad as he suffered a minor injury in training. El Khannouss was named on the bench and could be called upon in the middle of the park this afternoon. Just over 20 minutes in and Everton were doing okay in keeping Garnacho and Kulusevski quiet. Konate went on a good run on 24 minutes keeping the ball close to his feet, he tried the shot from a tight angle in the box and Perri turned it away. Perri always seems to have a good game against Everton. Olise won the ball back in the middle, he played it forward to Cunha who got inside the box, cut it back to Valle and he played it to Samardzic in a shooting position but he hit it just over the bar, good stuff from Everton. Porro came down the right, Valle got a foot in but not enough to deter him, he found Maddison in the box and his shot hit the post, the whole ground stopped and watched in silence as the ball bounced clear before being kicked out to safety. Alfie Dorrington was having a good debut against his former club, really showing true composure on the ball. He passed to Garner and then onto to Olise who played it through to Konate, Konate used his strength to brush off Romero and he slotted past Perri to give Everton the lead on 56 minutes! Everton were exceptional getting the ball back in midfield and Dorrington was a pleasure to watch. Ferguson made three changes with 15 minutes to go. Alcaraz replaced Olise. El Khannouss came on for his debut replacing Samardzic and Makovec made his debut replacing Valle. Everton played direct through the middle, Garner to Konate who played it on to Alcaraz and he wasn’t afraid to shoot as his shot dipped but Perri got a fingertip to it. Everton had a corner to deal with on 88 minutes and Garner got a foot in to tackle Riad but Romero got the equaliser lashing his foot at it and watching it go into the bottom right corner. Everton had another late corner to deal with but it was headed away by Branthwaite, Van De Ven went back to the keeper and the referee called time with both sides taking a point. Everton were really good today and it’s a positive turn in the right direction.

Lineup vs Leicester.webp

=Leicester result.webp

Leicester came into this early encounter on the back of two defeats against Spurs and Chelsea. Everton kept with three at the back after an impressive performance from Alfie Dorrington last time out. El Khannouss came in for his first start in midfield with Samardzic. Danny Mead was still missing through injury and was not ready for a return. Everton had a moment of relief when Konate was caught dawdling on the ball, Valle tried to win it back but Soumare was free of Valle and it was Pickford who came to the rescue with a good save tipping it round the post. Konate got a moutful from Pickford after that. Everton got the ball up the other end and El Khannouss played it to Cunha, he stayed onside as he took the ball near the byline and played it into the area for Valle who had plenty of space, he went for goal with a right footed shot thqt got a deflection on the way through and into the net! Everton with a first half goal and looking good for their lead, however after 30 minutes Matsima signalled to the bench to come off with a potential knee injury and was replaced by Zubelida. Mir played a great diagonal ball to the left for Bennette who beared down on goal and Pickford made a fine save rushing out of his line to save it. Everton cleared the resulting corner and Konate brought it down the left waiting for support, he held it up well and found Branthwaite leading the charge, he passed to Samardzic on the edge of the area and what a beautiful forward ball in for Cunha to poke home to make it 2-0 on 67 minutes! Everton made three changes, John Hepburn came on for El Khannouss, Moukoko replaced Konate and Alcaraz was on for Olise. Maffeo also came on a few minutes later for Patterson. The board went up for an additional 8 minutes and Everton were on course for their first win since February! Alcaraz had a great chance to put the icing on the cake when Cunha played a low cross into the box but the keeper managed to keep it out. Moukoko got on the loose ball in the final third and switched it to Samardzic in space on the right, he looked up and sent it into the left hand corner! What a strike! Everton flying! Just what they needed today. It was nice to hear cheers around Bramley Moore once again as the final whistle was blown!

DF: When you listen to the players and play to their strengths, that’s what you get. Cunha showed why he was worth every penny we spent on him today, he was truly outstanding. It’s a great feeling to finally get our first win in such a long time and to perform so devastatingly as well. A few of the lads came in with knocks, Alfie, who was fantastic once again has been kicked around and so has Patto but they’re gonna be fine. Cunha and Olise are looking the real deal out there and we want to see them linking up in attack like they are, they are the pinpoint of our attack and any Striker would be delighted with the level of service they can offer.

Lineup vs Bradford City.webp

=Bradford result.webp

Everton entered the second round of the league cup and were at an advantage with a home tie over League Two Bradford City, although stranger things have happened. Ferguson made some changes and Jay Gorter started in goal with Tomislav Makovec starting at Left Back. Nico Gonzalez and Michael Olise started on the flanks and Youssoufa Moukoko started up top. Danny Mead returned to the bench following a minor injury. Maffeo switched the play to the left flank on 8 minutes, Makovec beat his man and played it to Gonzalez inside the box, he wrapped his foot around it first time and found the bottom corner to give Everton an early lead! Everton made sure to double their lead on 29 minutes when Maffeo got down the right quickly and crossed low for Olise to knock it in from close range! His first Everton goal! Just before half-time Sousa had the trickery to beat Maffeo, cut the ball back inside the area for Haddow to blast over the head of Gorter and smashing the ball into the net, 2-1. Makovec took the throw on 53 minutes, Alcaraz knocked it back to him and he played a fast ball to Gonzalez who was running away from his man, Gonzalez had a chance to shoot from outside the box and hit it with the outside of his right boot to curl it in past the keeper and get his second of the night! Ferguson made his first change and it was Valle on for Olise and he went to the left wing with Gonzalez going to the right. Moukoko had a great chance to seal it when he was played in by Garner, turned beautifully to set up the one on one and he put it wide. Bradford put Everton under pressure on 73 minutes and the ball came over to Gibbons who was left in space on the right side and he smashed it straight into the top corner with power beating Gorter and getting one back for Bradford. Everton made two more changes, El Khannouss replaced Hepburn and Danny Mead was on for Moukoko. Mead won the ball back nipping in at Muller in defence and moving forward, he had Lopata coming across so took the shot on his left foot early and forced the keeper to turn it behind. Garner took the inswinging corner and Matsima headed towards goal, the keeper got down to stop the shot but Zubeldia was there at the post to knock it in! 4-2! Only stoppage time remained and Garner won the header knocking it forward to Mead, he played it wide to Gonzalez who ran down the right crossing into the box for El Khannouss to smash in the fifth! What a way to round it off! El Khannouss with his first! The supporters were pleased to win in some style and get a back to back victory, into the hat for the third round!

DF: It was pleasing to see the lads take it seriously and not let up. Really proud of some individuals today, I thought Gorter was solid and can really offer Pickford some competition. Gonzalez had a fine game tonight and I’m really pleased with Carlos Alcaraz so far this season, he is really impressing me.

KARIM KONATE OUT FOR SIX MONTHS

Everton were dealt a huge blow as news emerged from training that Karim Konate had suffered a damaged achilles tendon. The 23 year old who was going into his fourth season as an Everton player was starting to realise his potential and it is seen as an unfortunate setback. Everton will have two fit out and out Strikers in Danny Mead and Youssoufa Moukoko. Nico Gonzalez can also play as a Striker if required.

Brentford vs Everton
League Cup Third Round
1st September 2027

Lineup vs Brentford.webp

=brentford result.webp

It was a bizarre run of fixtures with the third round following straight on from the second with no league games in between. The reason was due to Newcastle participating in the Europa Conference League Qualifier and needed to slot in their second round League Cup tie against Walsall. The third round of the competition was scheduled earlier than usual due to a meeting with the LMA and to avoid European fixture congestion. Everton were drawn a tough tie against an up and coming Brentford who were realising all their dreams under manager Eddie Howe. Having won two FA Cups in the last three seasons, competing in Europe and a team aiming for Champions League football. Things were different at Everton but it hadn’t deterred Ferguson from trying to build a competitve side at Everton with some really high profile signings and young players beginning to realise their potential. It was one of the reasons Moshiri has backed him due to his investment in youth. Everton went with a strong side for the trip to Brentford, Branthwaite and Dorrington were back in the team as well as Samardzic, Cunha and Moukoko leading the line. Danny Mead was seemingly frustrated being on the bench for the trip but Ferguson didn’t want to rush the younsgter having just coming back from injury. Roony Bardghji was named on the bench after his recent injury. Brentford were in control but yet to find the breakthrough, Everton sitting deep and defending as best as they can inside the first half with no real chances at the other. Nelson made a great run forward into the box losing Patterson but his shot was pushed away by Pickford on 40 minutes. Kevin Schade managed to get clear of the back line but was he offside when the ball came through, he did finish to put Brentford in front but VAR will take a look. Goal ruled out, he was clearly offside. Everton were looking like they needed to freshen things up but on 60 minutes, Belmonte played a key pass in for Nelson who had the better of Patterson and made it 1-0. Everton made changes 10 minutes later, Mead came on for Moukoko and Roony replaced Olise. Mead was putting himself about, like he always does and was getting in to win the ball, it gave the travelling supporters hope. El Khannouss joined the attack and played a great ball towards Roony who curled it in with his left foot past Cox, 1-1! Branthwaite was getting into the final third and linking play up with Samardzic, Everton probed and went wide to Patterson, he played it inside to Roony who knocked it through first time for Mead to take the shot, the keeper pushed it on to the post, Mead got a second chance at it and knocked in it, 2-1! Mead with the goal! The subs making the difference! He ran over to Roony and they both went up to the travelling supporters tapping the badge on their chest! Everton were not done, Cunha took the ball down the left beating Ajer not once, but twice he crossed into the box and Mead was backpeddling to reach it but he got his head to it and it went in! 3-1! Fantastic! Danny Mead! Ferguson smiled on as Mead held up his arms in front of the supporters, surely a call to start him? Everton on the verge of a fascinating victory coming back from a goal down. The Brentford fans were leaving early as the Evertonians sang Danny Mead’s name on repeat. A third consecutive win for The Toffees and long may it continue!

DF: It was an emphatic second half performance. I could see something wasn’t quite working so Jon and myself decided to bring on Roony and Danny. To be honest, with them just returning from injury they were only going to get a run out at most but you could see they were dying to get out there and it paid off, they were incredible tonight.

The transfer window closed s few days earlier with no further activity for Everton. They were looking at a deal to bring in Diogo Monteiro on loan from Leeds United but the deadline passed before a deal could be agreed. Mourinho had a quiet window with more going out than in, Evan Ferguson joined the club from Brighton and Pepe and Raphina joined Roma and Chelsea respectively. Ferguson rewarded Mead with a start against Man City and Nico Gonzalez and Carlos Alcaraz came in behind him. John Hepburn was also given a start in the midfield. Not a lot to shout about in the first half an hour, Mead was struggling with his knee so as a precaution Ferguson brought him off. Cunha came on and Gonzalez moved up top. Makovec picked up on the Man City clearance, he pumped it into the box but Gonzalez could only head over the bar. Pickford made some excellent stops in the first half as he was repeatedly tested by Theo Hernandez, mostly from range. A minute before half-time and Haaland came forward, he played it to Foden but his shot was closed down by Pickford to turn it behind, great save again. Alcaraz played the ball forward for Gonzalez but he had to chase to keep it in play, he managed to get there and put it to the back post and Alcaraz headed against the post, best chance for Everton so far. Ferguson made more changes, Garner came on for Samardzic, Maffeo replaced Patterson and Dorrington was on for Branthwaite. Everton kept the ball alive from the corner with Hepburn going to retrieve it, he took a look into the box and sent it to the back post, this time Gonzalez rose and headed in to give Everton the lead! There it is! City were furious and demanded VAR, it was checked and Gonzalez was adjudged to have fouled Rodrigo. A controversial decision made and Everton were livid. The match went into the last ten and both sides were trying to find that one goal. City brought everyone forward, Everton sitting deep, Lewis tried the cross but Hepburn threw everything he had left in front of it and sweeped the ball to Alcaraz, he passed forward to Cunha and he tried to find Gonzalez but Gonzalez was running on empty and couldn’t get to it. One minute to go, Pickford played the goal kick long, Gonzalez flicked it on to Alcaraz, but Gvardiol won it back, the match came to an end and Everton with a hard fought point against a Man City side that would usually dominate but Pickford was class between the posts showing why he is still England’s number one.

The evening kick off at St James Park against a side still finding themselves under manager Vincenzo Italiano who joined earlier this year in February. A 7th place finish was enough to get Newcastle into the Europa Conference League but with their kind of backing, they would want to be aiming higher. Jordan Pickford started for Everton against his personal rivals and it was a strong Everton side missing only Konate up top which allowed Danny Mead his time to shine. St James Park was lively and thr noise levels rose when Isak was playd through on goal but was denied by Pickford after only 17 seconds. Pickford seemed to have upped his game and pulled off a few good stops from some close range efforts from Isak and Joelinton. Everton’s first real chance came on 40 minutes when Valle played it to Olise on the edge of the box and his shot was deflected behind. Mead took the corner from the left side and Joelinton went up but there was claims he used his arm inside the box, the referee stopped play to take a look and there was a huge coming together of both teams with tensions rising. Joelinton was already on a booking so had to be careful. After a VAR check it was confirmed and Everton were awarded a penalty! Lazar Samardzic placed it down and sent the keeper the wrong way putting the ball into the top right corner! Samardzic making it 1-0 just before half-time! Patterson came close to making it 2-0 early into the second half, his maizy run down the right deserving a goal would have been one of his best of his career but the keeper pushed it over the bar. Newcastle made a change and Isak went to the right side and Baldanzi went up top, the shuffle seemed to work as Newcastle created a good chance with Kimmich smashing it into the top left corner from the edge of the box to make it 1-1 on 56 minutes. Ferguson made two changes on 64 minutes, Mead came off for Gonzalez and Roony came on for Olise. Roony had his first chance when Samardzic played a short free-kick to Cunha and he helped it on to Roony but his shot that bobbled through the box as Mamardashvili just got over to the cover his post and keep it out. Maffeo and Alcaraz came on inside the last ten replacing Patterson and Cunha. Newcastle were looking the most likely to get the winner but so far Everton stuck to their guns and defended well. Everton won the ball back and looked to launch the counter, Maffeo had it on the right and players moved forward but he didn’t play the right ball, in the end he lost out to Reimildo but then won it back and was clear down the right side, he passed inside to Roony who went for goal and Mamardashvili pushed it away, great save. Newcastle pushed numbers forward and it was Livramento who went for goal but Pickford saved comfortably, he pumped the ball forward and Roony headed it down for Gonzalez but he lost the ball to Karlsson and the referee called time on a great battle between two evenly matched sides. Everton come to St James Park and take a point and many positives from the performance.

DF: We are showing huge improvements in our defensive stats and something we have worked on as a team to get under control. We are in a tough run of fixtures, Man City which we got a point, away tonight at Newcastle and we go to Old Trafford on Saturday. It’s a tough week but we will be going there to get something.

Manchester United, still without a league title since 2013 but have finished 2nd twice in the last three seasons so Ten Hag will be going all out for it this season. United brought in Ederson from Bayern Munich and Fabiano Parisi from Fiorentina for a combined £104M as they look set to end Arsenal’s challenge for a third successive title. Everton went with Cunha, Roony and Mead in attack today and James Garner started alongside El Khannouss in the middle. Man Utd started the game with pace and Shea Lacey was allowed too much space down the right to take the ball into the box and smash past Pickford after just 2 minutes. Patterson made a good run forward and was played in by Garner, he cut it back to Roony who went for the top corner and it was just over the bar. United were looking sharp and Shea Lacey got an assist when he played in Tel to shoot across Pickford to make it 2-0 on 17 minutes. Everton played forward, Roony got it through for Mead but he got the shot wrong and didn’t get enough power to beat Onana. United were relentless in front of goal and their movement was impeccable, Everton hasd five at the back but couldn’t stop Ederson from shooting inside the box and making it 3-0. It was very much all over for Everton when they went down a fourth on 54 minutes, Lacey finding Mount in space to beat Pickford. Everton in collapse. Everton brought on Gonzalez and Moukoko for Cunha and Mead. United made it five with Mount converting Boateng’s through ball and it was celebration time inside Old Trafford. With ten minutes to go Gonzalez played a low cross in from the left and Moukoko got in fron of his man to smash it in, nothing more than a consolation goal. Dedic added the icing on the cake in stoppage time when he came forward under no pressure and rolled it in past Pickford, Everton just terrible this afternoon. The players walked off to jeers from the travelling supporters. Everton were undone at the back so many times and the man marking was non-existent. 20 year old Shea Lacey was proving he was the real deal this season and was incredible out there today.

Duncan, a heavy defeat this afternoon, Man Utd focused a lot of attacking play down their right side.

DF: Listen, Shea Lacey was quality out there, he is some player and only 20 years old. We couldn’t deal with his pace and he caused us real problems. It was an outstanding Man Utd performance and I thought we were lacklustre in all aspects today. We struggled to get on the ball and get forward, bringing Gonzalez on helped but by the time he came on, the game was gone.

Everton knocked Brentford out of the League Cup in their own back yard recently but and with The Bees under way in their Europa League journey, Everton will be hoping to add another victory today. Ferguson brought Olise back in to the side and Moukoko got a start up top replacing Danny Mead. Ferguson went with experience at the back starting Igor Zubeldia in place of Alfie Dorrington. Mbuemo was in space on the right about to get the ball into the box but Olise came from behind and deflected it behind for a corner. Valle came down the left and crossed from deep into the box, Olise got up for the header but couldn’t guide it goalwards on 5 minutes in. El Khannouss moved forward but had no options so came back to Zubeldia, he played to to Olise and he had the vision to play it through the back line for Moukoko, Moukoko blasts it wide from inside the box, what a waste of an opportunity. He should have hit the target. Everton got into their groove and played some wonderful on touch football, Valle was playing better on the left and was up against it with Mbuemo but dealt with him well so far, his crossing was good but Olise was unable to finish for a second time. Patterson played a quick one-two with Samardzic on the right side and sent the ball in using the outside of his boot and Cunha’s header clipped the bottom of the post before going out for a goal kick. Zubeldia was having a good game marking Schade very tightly. Zubeldia has always been professional throughout his Everton career and never made a fuss when he wasn’t getting the right amount of playing time but has always been steady when called upon. Brentford came forward with Hickey and he found Nelson about 20 yards out, there wasn’t much on so he went for a curling effort towards the top right, Pickford reacted late and it was 1-0 to Brentford on 49 minutes. Everton made two changes with 30 minutes to go, Moukoko jogged off and was replaced by Mead. Roony came on for Cunha. Matsima and Branthwaite made a couple of passes at the back looking for the opportunity and then El Khannouss came into play taking the ball in the middle, he instantly found a way through to pass into Mead, who was about to be closed down by Collins and Hermoso and he noticed Raya was off his line so he tried to dink it but it went just over the bar. Branthwaite passed forward to Samardzic and he played in Roony who shot across goal and it went just wide of the post, not happening for Everton today. Patterson took it on the right and played it forward to Olise and his first time shot was turned behind by Raya. Everton made two more changes with just under ten minutes to go, Gonzalez came on for Olise and Garner came on for Samardzic. With one minute to go Pereira played a ball down the left for Neto to get in behind Patterson and slot to make it 2-0. All over at Bramley Moore. Everton had plenty of chances but could not convert. Great crosses into the box but unable to get the better of the Brentford back line. Brentford with a great away win that keeps them in the top four.

Newcastle United vs Everton

Manchester United vs Everton

I had a full scholarship to Harvard from Nasa to pursue my lifelong ambition to breed giraffes in the Sahara but I thought no way can I miss out on seeing Danny Mead fire Everton to the title.

How mistaken I am. Now I'm penniless and living under a bridge. Who do I blame? That cone laying twit.

Dunc out!
