….Branthwaite is rapid, we’ve conceded very few goals in the last two seasons. Young players are not necesarilly fast, some human beings are faster than others, it’s not always compatible with age. Doucoure wasn’t a slouch, he had powers of recovery, Gueye is busy, Young wasn’t slow.

You really need to start watching youth games when broadcast and reading the appropriate thread. I’m a believer that it’s increasingly difficult finding talent, youngsters have so many other things to do these days but it would be good if we could find a gem or two. The strategy of bringing youngsters in has worked well (Branthwaite, Stones, DCL etc) more than Academy findings (Gordon).

Recruitment rather than coaching would be more the issue in my view, maybe finding more from abroad could be the way forward but there’s no easy solution to this. You can’t play young players if they are good enough, believe me if Colin Harvey was 17 again, he’d be in and around this side just like he was in 1964.
Our fullbacks rarely overlap with menace - our midfield is slow the wingers apart from one cant beat a man or put a decent cross in - we score very few goals - DM definitely improved us , but he has to carry on to speed up our play from midfield Alcaraz will be an asset so lets see , Gana recommended a top midfielder & another team have snapped him up ... we are so slow on transfers ... my fear is we will scraping at the bottom of the barrel yet again ....

Correct.
We need a balance of youth and experience. We need to bring in players with ability most of all but we have lost lots of experience and know how regarding playing in the Premiership and that also has to be replaced.

In addition to your list of younger players you can add Mykolenko as well as squad players Patterson and Iroegunam
I am all for that - but not a dads Army set up as we lack pace ....
