2024/25 Michael Vincent Keane

It’s not just the financials. Are we going to get someone better than him who can accept being 4th choice?
It's not a zero sum game: they don't have to accept being 4th choice. They just have to accept not being a regular starter. Whoever they are, they will get game time across the season, be it through injuries, rotation, or in cup competitions. That individual will need to be willing to bide their time and come in and perform well.

Tbh they may even start games at the beginning of the season if we feel Tarkowski needs to be eased back in.

There's a huge pool of players out there who could be convinced to come in under those circumstances and who are levels above Keane. Could be a youngish player or an older pro on a short term contract.

Honestly, I'd be comfortable with promoting someone from the reserves or youth team over keeping Keane. That's how lowly I rate him

I would rather have a young defender coming through not a Keen on high wages ....

….i’m sure we all would but who do you mean? Not forgetting we have two young CBs in Branthwaite and O’Brien.

A couple at U18 look decent enough, we’ll know more this time next year but in the meantime we need somebody who can fill in, as Keane did at Newcastle.

On what wage - that stops us bidding for a good player - Dads Army FC .... slowest team in the Prem ....

Good commonsense signing and keeps together what has been a really good defensive core of players that is in the top 5 as a defensive unit in the Premier league. While not a glamorous signing, one that will free up more money for transfer fees further up the field. I have always stated the Keanes performances usually mirror the player he plays along side with, play him with holgate or Tarky and he looks poor play him with Branthwaite, Mina or Zouma he looked really.

I will finish it for you really OK - for a hell of a big wage .....
