Confirmed Signing Thierno Barry

People hate him because he says what they don’t want to hear, which says a lot more about them than him to be honest.
And people then rip the pi$$ out of him when he’s bombarded on X/Twitter and he responds with “not sure to be honest”. Well isn’t that what you want? If he’s not sure then you want honesty, not some made up guff to keep the masses happy. Some proper weirdos follow us ffs

So true.
He knows nothing.
Don’t be ridiculous. Of course he does. It’s not like he’s been involved with Everton for more years than you’ve probably been a fan, worked for Sky Sports for numerous years and probably has a list of contacts throughout the sport as long as your arm 🙄 people talk about him as if he’s the local Butcher who heard a bit of gossip now and again ffs

So, no deal done between us and Villareal, yet we're one step away? That's a pretty big step!
Theres now a few of the very reliable journalists from Spain now revealing numbers i.e fee involved so I don’t think we’re far away on this one. The hold up will more likely be the fact he’s just gone on Holiday so I’d expect this one to sit dormant for a week or two.

Negotiations don't just stop because of a holiday. It's 2025, we could give him a medical in Miami if we wanted.

I’m happy with this one. Whoever starts out of Barry and Beto will give the defenders a hard time. 60-70 minutes in we now have a fresh powerful forward to replace the other with.
Think Beto will start as the recognised starter and he deserves to as well. Watched the extended highlights of the win at Newcastle again the other day and while he didn’t score, he was absolutely superb. He’s proven he can slot as well, double figures when you’ve only been given a chance since January is good going. Barry will put pressure on him which is a good thing, and wait for his opportunity. I think we look well placed up front with these two, need to focus on wingers and central midfield after Barry for me. And right back of course.

Agreed. Box Barry off and get down to the real business.

You could, when you’re scrambling during the final hours of a transfer window. It’s very rare during the summer. Medical, signing, photo shoots etc will be done on his return IMO. If a fee gets agreed, he may even cut short his Holiday to wrap it up who knows.

What gives you the impression that he knows any more than said local butcher?

Yup. Seen this happen lots of times.

Sounds like the fee will be somewhere around 32m - 33m, if reports are correct. That's a lot of money for us, especially in recent years. But it's not a huge fee if we believe the player is our long term centre forward. I don't know much about the player, but if we are convinced he is the right player, then hopefully we get the deal done soon. Pre-season is important, especially for new signings.
