2024/25 Michael Vincent Keane

Dyche would want to start him.
Moyes won't
Not bothered either way but Moyes wanting Keane is as predictable as night following day.
Tarkowski and Branthwaite have been the first choice centre back pairing now for some time under both Dyche and Moyes.
If either of these was injured last season then it was a choice between Keane and O Brien as replacement.
We know that O Brien sorted out the problem right back situation so Moyes was slow to move him into the middle and Dyche for some reason ignored O Brien.... for these reasons Keane got a few games and tbf he generally did well.

Name one player who fits that bill, and explain how you'd fill the other 9 empty seats.
The bill is a young player who would look to take Tarkowski's position, not keep a waster that nobody else wants. As for finding one, that's why we pay a manager and his backroom staff.

Again though, this just ignores the fact that the alternative to Keane is highly likely to be somebody just like Keane. If the choice is keep Keane or sign Marc Guehi then this a very strange move, if the choice is keep Keane or sign Craig Dawson then it isn’t. There’s no point acting as if having to play our 4th choice centre half is only a bad thing if it’s Michael Keane. The truth is it will be a bad thing regardless, because we’re nowhere near being a squad which has 4 top quality options in one position at a time.

It's sort of the 3rd striker conundrum really. And why I was as annoyed as anyone with Solomon Rondons signing, but with hindsight it sort of made sense. The problem was DCL started getting injured lots so he had to play a lot.

Ill be honest, I'd have Dawson over Keane, but there's no way someone as good as Dawson would come to just be 4th choice, and more importantly take the wages associated to it.

Dawson or Keane 🤮

Jesus, supposed to be a brand new dawn.

We need to demand better.

Dawson is not going to come to be 4th choice mate. He's better than Keane IMO. Like I think we get worse than Dawson if we are after that style of player.
Looking at some of the released player lists, I could see Ben Mee coming in as that 4th choice if Keane leaves.

We don’t want to be spending transfer funds on a 4th choice CB and the better options on a free won’t want to come in as 4th choice.

I’d rather keep Keane.
