2024/25 Michael Vincent Keane

He's alright as cover. He is liable to make mistakes sadly but he was solid for a couple of games at the end. Again he's 4rh choice and we are short of players. Not really a big deal

There's a difference between a team collectively losing you points and an individual literally gifting goals to the opposition, though, isn't there? You can point to multiple specific occasions with Keane where he has turned wins into draws, draws into losses and sometimes even wins into losses. Of course we'll drop points, even the ridiculous Man City teams dropped points, but to willfully keep a player that you know will personally and individually be the specific cause of dropped points makes zero sense to me.

Some players in a squad with the resources we have will be a bit rubbish, we all know that and can live with it (except immediately after a disappointing result). Keane isn't a bit rubbish, he's a bin fire. He makes everyone around him worse. Get shut
.
You tell Em Windy...

The thing is have we got any talented youngsters? I wouldn’t object at all but they can’t be ready or this wouldn’t happen I’d imagine.
If there are any even close to being good enough, they will be on the fringes of the squad next season, or on loan, actually playing somewhere. Heck, someone might even step up to 4th place cb and push Kegger down the pecking order to 5th.

LstoryS, in the grand scheme of current Everton things, Keane getting an extension as 4th choice cb to make up the squad numbers barely even registers a '2' on the 'Current Everton Priorities' scale, given he will, in all probability, barely play.

However, we do have several areas where we need new players who can actually start, as first choice, in the PL, just over 6 weeks away. That's where our priorities should be.
