2024/25 Michael Vincent Keane

I just walked all tre way to Coop to get a cucumber for Mother in law dinner and sold out - dripping with sweat, annoyed and now have to rally around your madness!!

Yes, mate, he is awful but, its the least of our issues. If we had a full squad of ballers and big bucks in the bank I would think very differently about him even as 4th choice but, as that is not the case I am not going to lose sleep over it!

What I will put my house on is this: At some point this season, Keane comes on as a sub, costs us the game and you vault me before the whistle has even gone
You can take that to the bank. If he stays he will cost us points, and I will definitely remind you that you were all for keeping him when he does.

oh, I KNOW you will!!

However, if he never plays again or plays a blinder I will NOT vault you!
If he signs, he'll play. Quite possibly straight away depending upon Tarkowski's recovery from injury and how quickly we can sign a RB (I'm assuming O'Brien will fill in there again). This is why I don't think it is as unimportant as many others. There is a fair to middling chance that our 4th choice CB plays against Leeds in our opening league match. God help us if that is Michael Calamity Keane.

The timing of this talk of a new contract for Keane is intriguing, especially with the apparent collapse of any deal for Kenny Tete. If we are not going to be getting Tete, we could instead be looking at moving O'Brien back out to right-back for next season, which in turn could push Keane further up the pecking order at centre-back.

I know that won't excite anyone, but it is an alternative explanation for why we may be offering Keane a new contract.
Coleman said he's focused on putting injuries behind him and spending as much time as possible on the pitch, so he expects to be the starting right back.

Branthwaite normally picks up an injury at some point and there’s no guarantee that Tarkowski comes back the same with a serious injury at his age.

Even at 4th choice, I’m sure Keane would end up getting game time at some point next season. That can’t be allowed to happen if we want to improve.

We can’t be keeping rubbish players just because it’s easy.
