Transfer Rumour Kenny Tete

Annoying. We can do better but that comes at a cost. Signing him would save us money to spend elsewhere and he would have been a decent option.

Hope we have a rethink rather than just moving to the next one on the list (e.g. Coufal).

So the rumour doing the rounds is that Everton's transfer team is now full of tough negotiators, who won't be budged or taken to the cleaners, you know, like we have been asking for years! Everton have offered a deal, which is much better than Fulham's, and we will not be forced into raising it. Looks like either the player was never interested in Everton, or has decided that he wants to stay in London, and is fine on a lesser wage to not uproot his family etc. No problems, we move on. I am just happy knowing we wont be offering this lad 150,000 a week on a 5 year contract like we would in the past.

I don't think Romano etc are wrong.

I dont think it's something to act like weird Man Utd fans with INEOS as though new people are tough negotiators or whatever nonsense.

I think we tried to sign him. Fulham improved their terms. He's opted for stay there over joining us.

For whatever reason, he's legged us for Fulham. Make peace with it.

This. It will eventually pay dividends but the short-term challenge that Moyes and the current cohort are left with after years of having our pants pulled down is a threadbare squad, so agents will play on our basic need for more bodies. Ulitmately, it will mean progression is tempered for a few windows in terms of getting our first choices and the qulaity we desire, but rather that than go around the same loop again. It will require a bit of patience from everyone though - including us as supporters.

Not gonna believe we've got these tough negotiators until we actually do something decent.
100%. Nobody learned a thing from the Moshiri years. Uncritically stating that "the grown ups are in charge" and such like. They might be, who knows? We have almost nothing to go on so far. We've signed a lad we already had a clause for and renewed our old, crocked, non-playing captain's contract so far. That's it.
