New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

That legends game post Roma match. Have they thought that out?

I cant see too many people extending their day to watch a match between two teams of ex players having just seen a first team game...and having been at the stadium for at least an hour before hand Ild imagine for most.

Not many will want to hang around for that. It'd take time to transition from one game to the next (what, 20 minutes / 30 minutes) and fans will be looking at others drifting off and not want to be left hanging about having just seen the main event. Maybe the away fans who'd have travelled will be up for it, and they're a captive audience, but I doubt too many Evertonians will be.

There's an air of desperation about that plan that speaks volumes about the club and local state's concerns regarding egress from the new stadium.

The train into town stopped by Melrose Road yesterday, and I noticed a load of tractors and work going on to what looks like a flat surface are, I’m not in the trade or anything but it looks like they are levelling this area, could be another stop? Maybe not.

Both trial events struggled to keep their attendees in the ground till the end. On both occasions, it looked like half or more had already left before the final whistle (despite the fact that the last one was stopped early in the 2nd half). So, normal matchday egress/dispersal has been nowhere near tested yet, and piggy-backing a legends game onto the 3rd test event probably won't help with that either. Maybe a 20mins each way format would keep the crowd's attention?

or it could be an opportunity to wander around the ground and sit in different seats in different stands if some peeps do drift off home

I think they`ve got things completely wrong. Everyone will be going to see the first team game, and having the legends game first would maybe get the crowd in the ground a little earlier. Very bad planning having what should be a curtain raiser for the main event played after the main event.

I think if the aim was to have a full legends game you're right.

Personally, believe that its been put on to help ease the crowd after the proper game. They will be wanting people to leave in dribs and drabs. Which for a test event seems mental as again, 50000 people leaving the stadium won't be tested.

it's mad that it's not it's own thing

we are screwed for actual premier league games then?

It's a test event they're determined to avoid taking.

God forbid anything goes wrong when the season starts because stunts like this one will come back to haunt all parties.

Just get 50,000+ fans streaming out of that stadium pretty much as one and see where the problems lie. It's what the test event is supposed to be for.

I agree. I think that it is essential to test all aspects fully.
I think the legends game should be a separate test event and not something used to artificially spread out post match dispersal. Maybe it should even be a freebie for all season ticket holders and members to fill the place and test everything, and/or give more match-going fans the chance to get a feel for the whole new experience. Perhaps an evening match, as travel habits can be quite different for late games.
