In the last 3 seasons. Its easy to check the stats. He's started 60 games and scored 10 goals from open play. And 2 pens.
Breakdown of goals.
2 in 2023
5 in 2024
3 in 2025.
Its not good enough for the club.
But this has now run its course. He's gone. I wish him well wherever he rocks up. He needs to show more hunger for where that is imo. And no matter what anyone says i think Everton fans in the main have showed the patience of a saint with him for 5 years. Theres certainly a few clubs i can think of that just simply wouldnt have tolerated the stats i just posted above. Not a chance.
Yet, we tolerate and overpay players who score the same amount and that's fine? He's an average footballer but we genuinely overpaid an excuse of a footballer because "he runs" And no doubt pay good wedge to other way past it players over 35.

Again, I agree on the overall and it's ran its course, but there's no reason to pretend things aren't what they were while he was here as soon as he's out the door. He got dogs abuse everywhere and for everything - like "he has no hunger", "no application" while he's breaking his bones throwing himself at lost cause balls and all that, because he dared put on clothing gammons didn't like  We're in a crap period in the team's history and we had no proper good players or managers for several years and nearly got relegated due to them, yet there's a few that have been singled out while producing as you'd expect for where we are for other reasons and he is/was one of them.

As a fanbase, nothing brings us as much joy as hating our own players for no reason basically.

Anyway, he's off, bygones be bygones and all that. His parting message was class for what it's worth.

Always liked DCL for his all round game but was never ever gonna be prolific enough to lead the line for us forever.

I'm at a point where I think we just move on and let him go.

Also feel like even though he has been here since youth level, Everton has never really touched him, and got into his blood, like many other players. Maybe I'm wrong here and he just doesn't show his passion outwardly, but it's just the impression I get.

I cant speak for anyone else but ive been banging on about doucoure for years. And how unbelievably some posted about giving him a new contract for that bournemouth goal.
Just like calvert lewin. We're down there with the dross because these players hardly turn up for most of the season.
I dont tolerate them. I post that i want to move them on.

I'm not saying you weren't banging that drum mate, just generally as a fanbase it seems the opinion wasn't yours (and mine too, I've spoken against the donkeyman for years now  ).

In reality we handled the situation with DCL much better than the Doucoure one - his contract was running out, we offered a deal reflecting his ability/worth to us, the talks broke down, no new and obscene offer was submitted, both sides move on. Decently negotiated (by Big Nose too at the time) in all fairness, just that the talks breaking down was aired waaaaaaaaaaaay too early, leading to a lot of vitriol and speculation as to him wanting somewhere in the region of 125k to 17 gorillion eurodollars 250k per week.

Still flabbergasted with the contracts we offered while skint ffs! For Doucoure I assume Dyche played a big role in that, sadly, as he adored him for some reason.

Just a really poor striker. not prem quality and massively overhyped by some of our fans.

wont be missed.

lots of people thank him for his goal against palace, if he hadn't missed half the chances he did throughout the season we probably wouldn't have been in a relegation battle.

Well im hoping it changes. Just seeing a player like Alcaraz with a bit of guile and vision shows where we've got it so wrong. We should have been deducted points just for playing doucoure in the no 10 role.

With how crap he was in 99/100 situations it pretty much was the case

Both Charly and Ndiaye are what we should be going for in terms of ability and potential, so hopefully it goes on in that direction.

He wasn’t perfect — no striker ever was, he missed a load of sitters, had spells where the ball looked like a bar of soap. But he gave us moments — proper Everton moments — when we needed it most.

That header against Palace? That kept us up. Broke a few of Goodisons creaking boardings that did he fought, he grafted, he gave us hope when it was getting proper bleak. He stayed when others legged it.But while he was dragging us out the mud, some were busy dragging his name through it. Said he was faking injuries. Mocked the lad for his clobber. Whispered vile things about who he might be off the pitch (you know who you are)

As if the lad hasn’t broken his body for this club trying to score a goal under Dyche was like me trying to find a bird in a brothel. It takes bottle to play through that pain. It takes courage to walk onto Goodison when half the ground’s waiting to turn on you. And it takes real heart to stick it out when you’re getting booed at home and still lace up, chest out, and score the goal that keeps your club alive and it says a lot when your dad has to publicly defend you, never mind your wife - I pray none of you are ever under such ridicule you need that level of support!

Dom did all that.

Seen this has been doing the rounds with the kopites. Anyone who watched us in the 90s and Ferguson's first spell with us understands why he's regarded differently than DCL.

Never mind the fact that they shipped out their own "God" after he was injured.
Mate, I’m no kopite thanks, I watched us through the 80’s, 90’s and so on. I loved big Dunc’s attitude and do hold him in high regard for how much he loves the club. For me however it doesn’t make him a legend, it just means he’s a good player who loves the club.
