Not that it’s a particularly great benchmark, but in 2022 we committed £146k per week to Neil Maupey (£15m fee and 50k for 3 years)Well. I reckon his market value is probably about 7 million so I could see a signing on fee that comes close to that. 28-year-old players worth less than 20 million don't get paid 100k p/w by anybody . He'll get a £5 million signing fee/loyalty bonus and about 60k a week, tops.
Obviously with loaning him out and ultimately flogging him, he didn’t end up costing that much, but the same principle applies to DCL and any other player a team picks up on a bosman.
Once they have the players registration they have a saleable asset.
If DCL stays fit and scores 5+ goals (big if I know) he will be worth over £10m imo (not just for the goals but his role at a target man)
