Well. I reckon his market value is probably about 7 million so I could see a signing on fee that comes close to that. 28-year-old players worth less than 20 million don't get paid 100k p/w by anybody . He'll get a £5 million signing fee/loyalty bonus and about 60k a week, tops.
Not that it’s a particularly great benchmark, but in 2022 we committed £146k per week to Neil Maupey (£15m fee and 50k for 3 years)

Obviously with loaning him out and ultimately flogging him, he didn’t end up costing that much, but the same principle applies to DCL and any other player a team picks up on a bosman.
Once they have the players registration they have a saleable asset.

If DCL stays fit and scores 5+ goals (big if I know) he will be worth over £10m imo (not just for the goals but his role at a target man)

Curious how it’s announced via a BBC interview that was supposedly filmed last month.
It’s almost as if the last month has been an utter charade, and the club/DCL have been giving us the mushroom treatment.

First part i agree. Second part. Could be a bit deep. My own personal view is there has been some utter nonsense written about him on here in terms of what he is as a forward. Clinging on to a spell he had around 5 years ago. Looking back even that wasnt brilliant. You're then told its everyone elses fault. The final comeback is its hate.
Lol.
Its weird in a way that such a poor return from a player warranted so much debate so i think you are correct in terms of what the club has been. Many other clubs he'd have just been moved on with no fuss. Intrigued to see what club takes a punt on him. But delighted Everton can start looking at better forwards. Wether we get one is not the point. Moving on from a guarenteed poor finisher is. Its something like 8 goals from open play in 3 years. Beto has that in 15 starts this season.
He wasnt good or hungry enough. That simple.
Did you think that when his diving header kept us up v Palace ?

Thanks for your contribution Dom. Your best football came under Carlo and it was a shame you couldn't continue in that vein. I think it's the best decision for all parties and we need to move forward. I've said it for a few years and if we are to progress to where we want to get to, players like DCL don't have the determination or the desire. He didn't want it enough and this is the right outcome.

He might end up at Utd or Newcastle as a squad player but it's a big risk given his injuries. Decent targetman but for all his faults Beto is a better finisher

Showed so much promise early on. However never improved and, together with injuries and the inability to beat the 'keeper on one-on-ones, sadly his ability deteriorated rather than going on to improve...
