Non League Football

Ngl I feel like my love for the game is completely gone today. The one thing I enjoyed doing with my weekends that was football related. No VAR, none of the corrupt crap that comes along with the Premier League. Non league gave me genuine joy, and a connection and sense of community that Premier League can no longer offer. I feel like a part of me has died today as dramatic as that might sound. Like this will likely be the first season that I won’t attend a football match of any kind since I was about 4 years old.

Until you’ve experienced the grip that non league can have on you, you’ll never understand it. It’s different, it’s a genuine, real life part of you. A part of your hub, your community, it’s so much more than just going to watch a footy match.

Been a blast over the last few years sharing all our non league experiences in this thread. Genuinely wish all of your clubs the best. @barneygumble @bigjonny @Kurt. @Lobworm @Connor @Littlesue @Preki @summerisle @COYBL25 and anyone else I may have forgot. Look after your local clubs and Godspeed 🫶⚪⚫

Rubbish its happened.

Completely unfair that its happened when yhe club have tried relentlessly to make their futures secure.

Always welcome at Marine!

Just spotted the news on FB, so sorry mate, genuinely gutted for you. I saw something a few weeks back regarding off field stuff but had no idea it would come to this. Isn't there even another local non league team they could groundshare with?

Tbh I’m shocked they haven’t explored this much earlier. I have a feeling they were locked into a watertight agreement with the council over the stadium. I’d like to get more information regarding this.

Seems a no brainer? Given that there are several local teams with facilities that I am pretty sure would be up to standard, one wonders if these avenues have been explored? If not, why not?

Hopefully if the club starts back up again they learn some valuable lessons from all of this, namely not to ever get involved with that scum bag council when they offer their “help”. They did exactly the same with Widnes Vikings over the stadium, and all that’s happened is they’ve held them to ransom while the club has struggled to stay afloat for the past 10 years.

Is there absolutely no chance they could have done a groundshare mate? Is there something I've missed here?

Truth is I have no idea mate, the club have been very poor at communicating over this whole period. They’ve never mentioned anything about alternative groundshares so none of us know if it was even discussed, but it would seem bizarre and mental to me if it wasn’t.

What about Runcorns " new ground " out by Daresbury ?

It`s not the biggest, but it`d very new and surely it would satisfy all of the requirements ?

Linnets are already sharing with Northwich Vics I think, so that one was never a starter.

I think Halton was out of the question, but surely the question would’ve been worth asking to Cables, or one of the Warrington clubs. No idea if it was. I’d like answers tbh.

Potentially Runcorn Towns place too by the expressway. Though I admit I have no idea what state it is in
