Looking back, it was clear he was going to be let go. Moyes rarely played him. And when he did it was near the very end of the match. Dom didn’t show much in those times. I think injuries derailed his career.

This is the type of move we have to make if we’re to move forward. I thought he worked hard for the badge and seems a nice lad. But given he’s been our starting forward for years and you see how he compares to other forwards, you can’t get to where we need to as a club making decisions with nostalgia.

I think Dom’s track record going back many years now would indicate the type of year to expect. He’d be good for a handful of goals and there’s always a risk of reinjuring his hamstring. Good move by the club. Better to release too soon than too late.

Definitely an eye opener for this Everton fan from 200 miles away reading some of the pig-ignorant bigoted comments from a large section of our 'support'. I suppose every club's fans hope that their fellow supporters are just that bit better and more gracious than those of other teams. Turns out we have just as many knuckle daggers as anyone else, and that makes me sad.

I think at the start of the season he felt the demand for his services were more in demand so he could expect a bigger pay day either at Everton or somewhere else! But as the season has moved on the landscape has changed and between Beto and a new striker possibly with wages equal to one season of DCL its Everton who hold the cards. I wish him well and hope he has a good career but I think a lot of clubs will look at his numbers and just think he isnt worth over 100k a week.
