Lee Carsley

Good coach - he wilted a bit in the spotlight though.

E.g. you can see Tuchel is the better political operator - England are worse than before and it's like he's made of teflon.

Like Ferguson he is leaving it too long that he's almost getting too old for club management. I suppose it's slightly different in Carsley's case as he at least dipped his toe in for little spells. Of course there are exceptions, most do their best work in the 40-55 range. Our oldest trophy winning manager in recent times (last 65 years) is 50 years old. Our last, Joe Royle was 46.

Carsley at 51 would need to be finding a club soon to put down roots, another few years with the England setup and it's hard to think he will go on to be a top level club manager.
If he is going to go into Club management - now/soon maybe the time.
He may have his own exit strategy / medium term plan
Who knows.

If he can get Everton playing like England did in the 1st half last night I’ll be all for it. It was the best I’ve seen any England side play in many a year.
Would he even consider club footy? He’s a massive success at international level and hugely respected. He doesn’t come across as the type to want that consistent pressure and limelight IMO.

Coleman will be getting another year long deal next summer surely, can`t do without him being around the lads.
I heard they’d built a glass tank in the home changies at Bradley Moore, so the club can preserve him in jelly and have him watch over all future teams until the end of time. Apparently it was dead expensive but I suppose that’s what they were saving the Arteta money for.

Good youth international coach.

Can’t see him making it as a manager in the prem though.
There's a huge difference between underage football and the senior game...for coaches and players.

For example, when England beat West Germany 5-4 on aggregate to win the 1982 Under-21 European Championship, England got Mike Duxbury and Sammy Lee out of it. West Germany got Pierre Littbarski, Rudi Völler, and, eventually, the 1990 World Cup.

It's a staging post for development.

I suspect Carsley enjoys his current role anyway...

Yes I’ve watched Everton a lot more than the last decade but a really good team, which England U21’s are supposed to be. plays more than 45 minutes every game.
The 1st half as I said is the best I’ve seen an England side play in a long time, the 2nd half was to shabby either just Germany came back into it which you would expect from a side unbeaten in 2 years. Plus they won and deserved it, I’ll take that all day long.
