Glastonbury 2025

Well it would appear you're just part of the vocal minority mate.

Like it or not - these fellas dont just get a headline gig at one of the biggest music festivals in the world for nothing. They've proper sent heads west just because a) older generations have 'never heard of them', and b) a lot of harsh derision has followed, not just towards their music but towards Healy himself, who's just a fella living out a dream..

Said it last night and will say it again - Glastonbury is not a place where you 'gatekeep' music and never will be. 100k+ people there enjoyed their set last night and fair play. To me it just sounds like the discourse is, indeed, a bunch of old men yelling at clouds..

Maybe the festival is no longer your bag?

A lot of assumptions there. You’ve repeated the old thing and now added, that people have never heard of them. I specifically talked about not understanding why theyve gotten so big, so obviously I know them.

I’ve never been to Glastonbury but I’ve gone almost every year to Primavera Sound here in Barcelona for the last 13yrs. And go to other smaller festivals on and off, and plenty of live music from old artists to new. There’s loads of great stuff on this weekend. If I could have gone I would gladly.

Music isn’t your personality, people think some artists are utter dung. Other people think they are great. It’s not personal.

Saying you think they are utter unoriginal plop that don’t deserve a key slot at Glastonbury is not gatekeeping. We don’t have any powers to make decisions. It’s just an opinion sir.

Just a fella living out a dream. I don’t see what thats got to do with him seeming a plonker? Both things can be true.

I’ll have to add in a forum staple comment here…..are you his ma?

For me the further you go back the better the music especially jazz singers and musicians but 50’s and 60’s had a good few artists whose music is still well appreciated today. Will Rap music last the pace — is it even music?
Hip hop has been going strong for 50 years now, has been one of the most popular genres in the world for at least 30 of those, and people still come out with this.

Incredible.

Been listening to Slick Ricks new album just out and well received. Staying the pace 40yrs later.

I think people who don’t consider hip hop/rap at all would be surprised by how many of their favourite artists would hold it up in the highest regard amongst other more obvious influences.
