2024/25 Idrissa Gueye

Even if he does drop off he would still be an option off the bench next season. Think we get too caught up on age and yes father time catches up with us all but the sports science and recovery methods these days keep these athletes going longer than before no surprise we’re seeing the likes of Milner, Young, Vardy playing into their late 30s at the top level

You have to input how much it would cost to replace him, Fred might be a bit younger but he'll cost a transfer fee and a high wage, will have no sell on value and is nowhere near as good, in my view.
I suppose the sticking point might be that Gueye fancies seeing out his career in France then?
And the length of contract/wages is just an excuse?

Maybe, I hope not if I'm honest, Hoping it's just the length of deal offered, he's getting on like, but his game isn't based on speed and if he's not as good during his second year, I'm sure he would be fine in a smaller role as back up.

2 years seems logical for all involved. He’s earned it and even with a slight decline the next 2 years will be able to contribute at a high level.
It’s logical considering how much he plays. Also his experience and importance to the overall squad. And the fact that him, Pickford and tarks are the spine of the team and first names on the team sheet.

We just gave Coleman a year and he plays about 20 mins a season. Gueye plays 100 times more.

Player of the season in 24/25 so a 2 year contract on the back of that is not a huge stretch. What if he is player of the season for the next 2 years then its a absolute bargain, still nothing like the money we have wasted in the past.
