Tbh, all that really tells us is that Anfield isnt eligible for the Euros (on pitch size). If it was, would BMD have been chosen ahead of the larger Anfield, with more boxes and corporate etc? I'm not so sure.

The Etihad was to be picked ahead of Old Trafford though despite being smaller with less corporate etc.

For the same reasons BMD would always have been picked ahead of the dated Anfield….

That was primarily because they were uncertain as to whether they would be carrying out an upgrade of facilities/rebuilding whilst the tournament was on.

I'm not entirely sure the pitch dimension requirements for UEFA International competitions could be strictly considered 'obvious'.

Alas, I was merely trying to add some perspective to the perpetual cryarses about BMD not holding 7k more people...

You win though, mate. Looking into it, due to the proximity of the Main and Anfield Road stand to the pitch, no, Anfi*** indeed can't host UEFA International competitions.

Anfield’s pitch does not meet UEFA specifications so they will always be overlooked for Men’s international tournaments.

That was primarily because they were uncertain as to whether they would be carrying out an upgrade of facilities/rebuilding whilst the tournament was on.

That’s the excuse United used when they were made aware they would be rejected in favour of Citys gaff.

I think Man Utd withdrew Old Trafford from the selection process because they couldn't offer assurances of its availability.
