Travel thread 3.0

New Zealand is a place that’s always been on my bucket list. Been looking to go around November time, but just read that hayfever over there is worse than UK.

Can anyone confirm this? Also if anyone knows when the best time to go there would be. Basically, I’m just looking to go when it’s nice and pleasant enough. Not in the height of their summer, but where you can still see snow on the mountains on Aoraki/Mt Cook etc

Hows the vibe with the locals? Seems to be protests happening there against tourists?
Got back from Palmanova on the 19th
Had day trips to Palma and Soller didnt come across any animosity or protests.
Spoke to a taxi driver who went into a big rant about Airbnbs and similar places stopping locals getting affordable accommodation.
He said majority have no problem with tourists in general.

Pathos is a beautiful area, as you say it is so sad what is going on a relatively short journey away.
Enjoy the rest of your break!
Find it a tad over commercialised now.

There’s some nicer quieter places just along the coast.

Avdimou is one of them - nice day on the beach then a trip to Pissouri. There’s a lovely taverna in the centre of the town “The bunch of grapes”

Well worth a visit

Anyone been to Seminyak in Bali? I'm going next month...what beach clubs should I go to?

And should I book tours pre going? Or wait until I'm there?

Thanks

….view from our table at lunch a few hours ago, sad to think the woes of Israel area is literally 200 miles to our left as we drink Pimm’s;

I seriously hope you both go/went to Felix bar and indulge in drunken karaoke.

No? Just me.

Just back from Antalya with the Mrs. Prices for eating and drinking out are going up each year but it's still a sight cheaper than the other countries I've been to in recent years. And Kaleiçi (the old town of Antalya) is beautiful.

I have stayed in the Kaleici a number of times since first went in 2007. On the first visit only found 2 bars, and one of those consisted of a small table outside with 2 low stools. Now lots of bars and it can get a tad loud around the Holly Stone Club. Nevertheless it's worth a visit, and I would still rather stay there than the high rise hotels at Lara Beach.

Hi folks,

Am looking to head over to USA in August for 2 or 3 weeks and thinking of going East Coast , Boston, New York, Philadelphia and then Washington! Will be going with my french husband so looking at stuff that he might like and as Irish myself going to Boston etc 😁 Any suggests of less non tourist stuff to do ? Would we be better driving?
