New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

As someone pointed out many posts ago, Everton have only once exceeded average attendances of over 50000 in its entire history. And that was in 62/63.

It can be a very limited comparison. Only a few clubs had ever averaged over 50k before the current era. For instance, West Ham had never averaged over 35k in their history, now over 60k. Man City had never averaged over 42k in their History, currently increasing to over 61k. LFC had never averaged over 50k in their history before very recently etc. Before the 70s our fanbase was probably as big or bigger than anyone's. 50 yrs of mainly mediocrity and our neighbours glory years have seen that heavily eroded.

Both of those teams were massively successfully with huge fan bases. Liverpool are a global brand. City were provided with a stadium.

Historically, Everton have averaged higher than Man City far more times than vice versa. Only in recent times, with their larger stadium and success has that not happened..... and if you take actual attendances as opposed to tkts sold (many very cheaply at their stadium), then it's probably not that far off. On top of that, despite their success they barely ever sell out Wembley semi-final allocations. Their fanbase has grown in recent years, and the they also had a strong core before that.... but certainly no bigger than ours.

It's as if people are convinced little old Everton can only be judged by the past while other, inferior clubs go from strength to strength into the future...
It’s a numbers game. Building for a stadium of 60k? Why stop there? Why not 70k? How about we produce a team that’s a global success and then talk about increasing the capacity…. Just an idea….
