Your Everton player stories

Dai Davies was our PE teacher for a bit, obviously he probably wasn't putting the effort in that he did as a player but it did let a load of kids in North-East Wales think they had a chance at being a professional footballer.

Also there was a rumour that Southall was knocking off a lady in Mold, though this was never confirmed and the sources were dubious.

Isn’t that Rooneys favourite gaff, too?
No, he frequented the Orient (his uncle was the landlord), which is at the far end of Speke on Easter Avenue / East Millwood Road.

The Fox, or the Dunnies as it now is, is on Hale Road behind the Premier Inn, and from my own experience the Orient was always the rougher of the two.

Everywhere else has closed now, including the Legion, original Dunnies, the Flying Saucer, the Pegasus and the Noahs.

How the Orient is still open is one of the mysteries of the world

Pre season game at Winsford before the 84/85 season. My manager at the time was a friend of Mark Higgins, and got me and a mate tickets for the directors lounge. It was set up to give Sheedy, Harper and Gray a run out before the Charity Shield. Got to have a pint with Andy Gray after the game, a real 'larger than life' character. Sheeds and Harper just sat on a bench looking knackered. Shook Howard Kendals hand as he left, wishing him the best for the season, so I'm claiming a big assist for our glory years.
As an added bonus, they let kids in later on for autographs, so we just signed away, as if we were players.

Met quite a few over the years at various functions, but 'random' meets that come to mind are Mike Lyons (at a petrol station on the East Lancs) Mike Newell (visiting when I worked at the Hospital) and an elderly but still fit Duncan McKenzie (browsing through the second hand books in a charity shop) All of them were pleasant and seemed happy to chat, though Mike Newell signed for Blackburn a couple of days later and hadn't even hinted at it, thus ruining my best chance of ever being ITK. :(

Bumped in to Tony Grant at some point in the 90's, he'd recently scored a 'wonder goal' though I can't now remember who it was against. If I remember correctly, it was one of those where nobody knew if he meant it or not. I've tried to find a video of it but can't do so. Anyway, I asked him if he meant it and he just smirked and said "course I did." I'll be honest, I left none the wiser  I'd justbeen in a bookies so had a bookies pen and got him to sign a pack of skins  Ripped it off and kept it for a few years, but no idea what became of such a collectors item

Used to work in the old Corn Exchange building (believe it's now a hotel) and to the rear was 'Beetham Plaza'. Quite a few of our players lived in there at various times. Radinski, Pistone and Gravesen off the top of my head. Used to mainly see Gravesen out and about. Absolute milf magnet. Often seen him surrounded by office girls laughing hysterically at everything he said whilst affectionately touching his arms and stuff

I can confirm that Gravensen and Radz lived in Beetham Plaza.

Years ago when i still lived in Liverpool I had a few mates who worked at Barclaycard and they would have a 6 a side game in Kirkby Stad one night in the week. Every now and then i would play to make up the numbers.

One of the lads lived in Beetham Plaza and they were short of numbers ( I never played but i wish i did that week ) and he bumped into Tommy and asked if he wanted a game to make up the numbers. All he asked for was a lift and he played by kicking the crap out of everyone. He gave no mercy to anyone but after the game was nice as pie to everyone.
