Cricket

The 90s had Hick, Atherton, Stewart, Thorpe and Gooch/Gatting. They had Caddick and Gough. They had little else. It's a very similar tale.

Agree with Stokes getting the toss wrong a bit though I can think of one in Pakistan and one in New Zealand in recent memory.
The Aussies annihilated that team time after time. Gooch was the only really consistent batter there. As soon as he was out the rest invariably crumbled.
Watching Fraser/ Pringle/ Defreitas getting smashed all over by Steve Waugh was enough to kill any enthusiasm in cricket for a generation.

Most of that was as much due to everyone being out there for themselves as much as Australia being a lot better talent wise. A lot can be said for how McCullum is trying to galvanise the side.

Yep stood up to an arrogant bully and made him fill his kecks there, great stuff
You seen the video from a year or two back where a TV show tried to get them back together to sort out their differences? Chappell wouldn't have it, it was bloody embarrassing for the old man, I know Botham's quite the boomer these days with his political views but he seemed to genuinely want to bury the hatchet.

I have, Chappell couldn't even make eye contact
