New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

If they did a transportation survey for how fans would get to Goodison back in the day no one would ever have built it at all. Both Anfield and Goodison are an absolute nightmare to get to by any transportation route. Lo and behold though fans have found a way over time, which they will with Bromley Moore as well. There is no efficient way of getting 50k people in and out of a stadium quickly, doesn’t exist in any stadium I’ve ever been to for any event. If you can park anywhere near it, you sit in traffic for ages getting away. If there’s a tube station or train station it’s absolutely crammed. Quite simply infrastructure isn’t often built to accommodate 50k volume that only occurs once a fortnight.

20yrs ago, Goodison had one of the best dispersal times in the league according to a football research study at the time (they went around all premier league clubs and measured the time it took for local roads to get back to normal after a game). Of course, there are good and bad examples, and a lot also depends on the demographics and make-up of the different fanbases, ie the number of out of towners etc. Hence the difference between Anfield and Goodison on that score despite the relative close proximity. The issues with BMD were obvious from the start..... but so are some of the potential solutions..... and everything will be dependent on whether we can achieve the modal shift predicted.

It’s not uncommon for teams to struggle in a new stadium and I don’t suspect we’ll be any different.

We've been struggling at Goodison, in our case that negates any noticeable downturn.

Bit disappointed it's been renamed the Hill ic stadium tbh, just doesn't sound quite right

I like it. The Hill I.C. Sounds medical.
